His aim was to bring today our management runs 374 educational centers. Our College is one these centers. Our college started in 1962 with the small student strength 0f 67, now it becomes 5500. Our college is running 18 UG and 10 PG courses of Arts, Commerce and Science faculties. The Gymkhana Department of our college is a source of our pride and wins number of medals at national and international level. The Laboratories of Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology have been recognized for research by Shivaji University, Kolhapur for research activates. At present 21 students are working for Ph.D. and 2 for Phil. Degrees. It is my pleasure to inform all of you that college is reaccredited by NAAC in August 2016 and got B++ Grade (with CGP 2.76). During the last two years we have published 158 national and international research articles having 324 Citation. At present 20 Minor Research Projects and 02 Major Research Projects are ongoing financially assisted by UGC and DST. Department of History was started in the college at UG level in 1964-1965 and at PG level in 2017-2018 .The department of History is very strong with number of students and faculties. Department of history is organizing the ICAR sponsored two day National Seminar on ‘Conservation and Importance of Historically Important Monuments, Places and Documents’ Our management has an ever-lasting bond with the society inspiration and guidance of the president of our management Hon’ble Chandrakant (Dada) Patil, the Chairman Prin. Abhaykumar Sanlunkhe, the Secretary, Prin. Shubhangi Gavade are supports for growth and development of college. Sponsored by Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) New Delhi. Our college is run by Shri Swami Vivekanand Shikshan Sanstha, Kolhapur. The College was established in 1962 with Arts and Commerce faculties, and Science Faculty started from 1984. Within a brief span of 50 years, now the college has 17 UG and 10PG departments with M.A.History. The Science faculty of the college has four University recognized research laboratories in the College. We are very proud to be here to organize National Seminar Inaugurated with auspicious hands of Hon. Dr. D. T. Shirke Pro- Vice Chancellor, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, in the presence of Hon. Kiran Kalamdani, Prof. Sachin Joshi, Dr. Balkrishna Mali, Hon. .Maqsood Afzal Jagirdar, Hon Mansing Kumthekar and Hon Prin. Dr. R.R. Kumbhar. I am thankful to my Pride and Proud Mr. G. K.     Vaishnavism in South‐Western Maharashtra: Vitthal‐ Rukmini Temple at Deur, Satara Ganesh D. Bhongale1 1. Department of A.I.H.C. and Archaeology, Deccan College Postgraduate and Research Institute, Pune – 411 006, Maharashtra, India (Email: ganeshbhongale333@ gmail.com) Received: 29 August 2018; Revised: 03 October 2018; Accepted: 12 November 2018 Heritage: Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies in Archaeology 6 (2018): 720‐738 Abstract: The present paper highlights a temple which is not discussed in the realm of the Vaishnavite tradition of Early Medieval South‐Western Maharashtra. If we delve further in the nature of Brahmanism during this period, Shaivism was in its fully developed form in that region as compared to rare occurrence of Viṣṇu temples. The temple discussed here stands on high platform pertaining exterior and interior plain walls and decorative pillars with diverse iconography. This temple is perhaps a rare example where the iconographic combination of Hayagriva and Surya is depicted, hinting at the possibility of prevalence of joint worship of Hayagriva and Surya. The prominent nature of Vaishnavite iconography suggests that this temple is associated with Viṣṇu. It is rare to find independent Viṣnụ temple during this period, hence this temple is probably the only temple of Visṇ ̣u in South‐Western Maharashtra. The period onwards, 10th century CE observed to be the period of large‐scale building activity of the temples in this region and elsewhere in Maharashtra.

BKPS College of Architecture, Pune 2. D Y Patil School of Architecture, Charholi, Pune, India ABSTRACT Modern project management techniques are essential for heritage preservation. Implementation of conservation proposals through management is more effective in terms of duration taken and on time completion. The paper deals with the study of forts in Maharashtra Region for the feasibility and potential to develop them as a tourist destination through conservation and preservation. The paper discusses the issues, constraints and potential of tourism in the study area for the future development. And suggest a methodology and guidelines for planning and development of forts considering Eco-Tourism to promote the Tourism activity. Affordability of people is increased due to Globalization and IT Sector, so there is demand for this kind of development. Since there are 350 odd forts in Maharashtra, standing as silent sentinels to history there is a very high Tourism Potential which could develop through the preservation and conservation of the same. Ideal management techniques for the same are to be identified and appropriate recommendations are to be suggested as an outcome of study. 1. INTRODUCTION Tourism in the form of activity influences the regions in which it is developed and received with economic, social, cultural, and environmental dimensions.
