The new boundary plan, which can be found here, was released without comment or supporting documents from school division officials. As such, it's not yet clear exactly how many students the new school will remove from any of the three existing high schools. The new school, which has not yet been named, is under construction on 83 acres of undeveloped land behind Jiffy Lube Live. The school is expected to open in the fall of 2021 and is planned primarily to relieve extreme overcrowding at Battlefield and Patriot high schools, which are 950 and 625 students overcapacity, respectively.

FAUQUIER

Wetlands Project Near Brumfield Elementary Begins This Summer Fauquier Times, Robin Earl 04/30/2019 In a cooperative effort between the Town of Warrenton, Fauquier County - and nature - a half-acre triangle of grassy land adjacent to Brumfield Elementary School will be transformed into a wetlands area. A nearly $200,000 grant from the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries will pay for the project. Construction will begin when school lets out for the summer. The land chosen for the project, which is now a relatively flat piece of grassy land, will be graded to create shallow pools of varying depths; the natural flow of water will be slowed by the levels and by different kinds of vegetation that will be planted in the area.

Supervisor Pulling the Plug on Rt. 29 Intersection Plan Fauquier NOW, Don Del 04/23/2019 For the Lee District supervisor, their silence spoke volumes about proposed safety improvements at the deadly Route 29 intersection just west of Remington. After a nearly two-hour meeting Monday night, Chris Butler asked for a show of hands among the dozens of remaining residents who supported the suggested changes to the Freemans Ford intersection. "Not one went up," Mr. Butler, who hosted the meeting, said in an interview. Without his support, the proposal seems doomed. "I can't send anything forward that's something the people don't want," said the county supervisor who represents the Remington area. "I can't shove it down their throats." About 125 people attended the April 22 meeting at the Remington Lions Club, just north of town. About 40 spoke in opposition to the proposal.
