BISHOP’S VOCATION FUND DRIVE The weekend of March 23-24, 2019 the Knights of Columbus Council #1480 of Greensburg is asking the Parishioners of St. Paul Parish to join them in offering their support to Bishop Edward Malesic by contributing to the Bishop’s Vocation Fund . All money collected will be matched by the K of C 1480. We should all feel that this is extremely important to support Bishop Malesic as he continues to shepherd the Diocese of Greens- burg. The fund is used by the bishop to support Seminarians who are in formation. The Knights will have an insert with an envelope in next week’s bulletin . Please remember they will expand our parish contribution by adding matching funds. The check that they will present to the bishop in May will represent X2 the amount collected in our local parishes. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

COLLECTING BABY ITEMS... Surely you have noticed the baskets near the entrances. They are marked for collecting baby items. Once again we have been asked to partici- pate in the Community Baby Shower that is hosted by Westmoreland County Community Action Agency. The event offers a baby shower to moth- ers with newborn children to experience a shower to help give supplies to care for the new baby in the house. We have participated in this event last year and your response (as always) was overwhelming. The baskets will be up until just after the Palm Sunday Gathering here at St. Paul. We will gather items like bottles & binkies, diapers wipes & baby lotion, washcloths, baby soap & shampoo, teething rings, bath toys & rattles, onesies...you know. Those smallish baby items that you just can’t resist. Books are good too! Thanks you in advance for your participation!

OUTSTANDING CHECKS Several parishioners have contacted us regarding checks for Masses that have not been cleared from the bank back in October 2018. Apparently, something has happened with this deposit at the bank or otherwise. If you are one of the people with these outstanding checks, would you kindly send us a replacement check. Our deposits are always made in a timely manner, so if you ever notice this much of a delay, please bring it to our attention. Thanks for your help PagePage 33 Readings & Reflections

REFLECTION: STAND FIRM IN THE LORD It is not hard to imagine, in this age of wars, evil groups bent on the destruction of humanity, and political follies, that the words of Saint Paul were so accurate, even for his time. It seems that the world never changes. Paul says, “Many . . . conduct themselves as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is their destruction . . . Their minds are occupied with earthly things” (Philippians 3:18, 19). The result is the destruction of innocent peo- ple and of the Earth itself. But Paul says to the Philippians, “our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we also await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ” (3:20). He will “change our lowly body to conform with his glorified body” (3:21). Note that he says “body” rather than “bodies.” He is talking about the whole community of believers, who, following the example of Jesus and of Paul, will come into the glory of God. So “stand firm in the Lord” (4:1). Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
