It is simply an indisputable fact that basketball legend Michael Jordan is one of, if not the, most recognizable figures on the planet. 10 years ago this season, the sports superstar turned his attention to racing in the United States. Starting with one privateer rider, Jordan employed Gemini Racing to bring his dreams to fruition. The team was a hit in the paddock and attracted high-end, mainstream sponsors and riders. In short order, Jordan’s team expanded into multiple classes and eventually began accumulating podium finishes, victories and a championship.

For the Michael Jordan Motorsports team, 2008 was a groundbreaking season. They won their first AMA title with Aaron Yates in the AMA Superstock class after a mere five years of competition. What’s more, the fledgling team even defeated manufacturer-based teams with significantly larger budgets.

Now, as the 2013 season heralds the celebration of MJM’s first full decade of road racing, the year promises to be even more significant than the five-year landmark. Partnering again with the Army National Guard, the MJM squad will continue to contest the premier AMA Pro National Guard Superbike class with returning rider and new team member Danny Eslick.

This year, MJM will also field a rider in the ultra-competitive AMA Pro Daytona SportBike class and, as a result, race the prestigious Daytona 200 for the first time ever. In conjunction with the National Guard, MJM has once again contracted with Celtic Racing to manage its 600cc program, which will include teammates James Rispoli in AMA Pro Daytona SportBike and Corey Alexander in AMA Pro SuperSport.
