My whole world has been turned upside down. I haven't slept in days. Have you driven a Boxster yet? No? Well don't. I did, and now I'm really in a mess. Since that fateful day, I've been trying tofigure out how I can go on living without one. It's not easy. As a 914/6 lover, this car, this Boxster thing reminds me ofwhat the 914/6 could have been had Porsche/VW continued to build the original car. Asa 911 lover, the Boxster drives home it's Porsche pedigree. This is Help Needed 100% Porsche. Tobesure, thereare vastdifferences between the 914/6and the Boxster-overall length and wheel base, not the Nazareth Speedway least ofthese, with theBoxster appearing quite a bitlarger than CART/Indy Car - April 25,26 & 27 the petite /6. And although it is easy to trace the Boxster's NASCAR/Busch Series - May 17 & 18 lineage back tothe current 911, the Boxster looks like nothing else on the road. -
American Road Courses
American Road Courses Road America Watkins Glen Meadowdale Laguna Seca Westwood Riverside Mid Ohio Every Road Course Daytona of Past and Present in the United States Mosport and Canada Sebring Barber Miller Rob Semmeling American Road Courses Page 2 Introduction This file lists all permanentpaved road courses - i.e. non-oval racing circuits - in the United States and Canada. In most cases, 'permanent' is synonymous with 'purpose-built'. However, some circuits were not purpose-built but actually started out as tempo- rary courses. Florida's Sebring International Raceway, for example, was originally a temporary airfield course, laid out over the runways of Hendricks Field. Likewise, Portland International Raceway in Oregon evolved from a street course. Both circuits are nowadays permanent facilities. The starting point for this list was the 2003 edition of Allan Brown's book "A History of America's Speedways: Past & Present". This is an indispensable reference work for which Allan cannot be praised enough. However, in the book the road courses are a bit buried between the vast number of ovals. Listing them separately gives a better overview. Also, I found the information in the book is not always accurate. It is an excellent basis for further research but the data should be treated with great care. I have done my best to present the most correct and accurate info in this file, although there may well be errors here and there. In general, there are three main types of American road courses. The most interesting are the 'pure' road courses which were built specifically for road racing. -
Suzuki Announces FY2019 Vehicle Recycling Results in Japan
22 June 2020 Suzuki Announces FY2019 Vehicle Recycling Results in Japan Suzuki Motor Corporation has today announced the results of vehicle recycling for FY2019 (April 2019 to March 2020) in Japan, based on the Japan Automobile Recycling Law*1. In line with the legal mandate, Suzuki is responsible for promoting appropriate treatment and recycling of automobile shredder residue (ASR), airbags, and fluorocarbons through recycling fee deposited from customers. Recycling of these materials are appropriately, smoothly, and efficiently conducted by consigning the treatment to Japan Auto Recycling Partnership as for airbags and fluorocarbons, and to Automobile Shredder Residue Recycling Promotion Team*2 as for ASR. The total cost of recycling these materials was 3,640 million yen. Recycling fees and income generated from the vehicle-recycling fund totalled 4,150 million yen, contributing to a net surplus of 510 million yen. For the promotion of vehicle recycling, Suzuki contributed a total of 370 million yen from the above net surplus, to the Japan Foundation for Advanced Auto Recycling, and 20 million yen for the advanced recycling business of the Company. For the mid-and long-term, Suzuki continues to make effort in stabilising the total recycling costs. Moreover, besides the recycling costs, the Company bears 120 million yen as management-related cost of Japan Automobile Recycling Promotion Center and recycling-related cost of ASR. The results of collection and recycling of the materials are as follows. 1. ASR - 60,388.3 tons of ASR were collected from 450,662 units of end-of-life vehicles - Recycling rate was 96.7%, exceeding the legal target rate of 70% set in FY2015 since FY2008 2. -

2019 Mazda Contingency Awards Program Payouts and Requirements
2019 Mazda Contingency Awards Program Payouts and Requirements Endurance racing and the NC (third gen) Miata highlight the contingency awards enhancements. In club racing and autocross, many auto manufacturers pay contingency awards, though not all. Of those who do, the philosophy has largely been to pay just the winner or, perhaps, the podium. Manufacturers want wins and podiums to be able to showcase. Mazda is different. It wants to showcase the talented Mazda racers, but it also rewards many racers who finish deeper in the fields. “At Mazda, we don’t do things just because they’ve always been done that way,” commented David Cook, Mazda Motorsports’ business development manager. “A core value of ours has been continuous kaizen (continuous improvement). In 2017, we began paying deeper in the fields – often the top five finishing positions. In 2018, we paid a little deeper overall. And starting in 2019, as we refocus our efforts in road racing and autocross, we will offer contingency awards to Mazda racers in three sanctioning bodies for the first time – all endurance racing focused.” Mazda racers competing in American Endurance Racing (AER), ChampCar, and World Racing League (WRL) are now eligible for contingency awards. For those choosing an MX-5 Miata, Mazda Motorsports has secured a parts rewards program as the primary compensation for these racers. These “parts rewards points” can be used to acquire many Miata racing competition parts from Mazda Motorsports. While points cannot be combined with cash to purchase a given part, the points value range in the hundreds to thousands of dollars in value. -
Trying to Develop American Talent Page 1 of 4
Trying to develop American talent Page 1 of 4 Trying to develop American talent Jeannie Broussal | Posted: Wednesday, August 24, 2011 10:52 pm With the influx of international drivers into the IndyCar Series during the 1980s, American drivers are now the minority in a series they once dominated. There are several reasons for this turnaround. When international drivers — who had no place to move up in their homelands — saw an opportunity to compete in a world class series in the United States, they began migrating to IndyCar. With the emergence of NASCAR, more young American drivers decided to turn to stock cars. Another reason is many young American drivers became confused about which step to take after competing in go-karts to get to IndyCar. Some made mistakes that put them way behind in their careers, and some gave up altogether. Tony George, Jr., the manager of business development for Firestone Indy Lights and the Mazda Road to Indy Program, talked about why he thinks there are not more American drivers in IndyCar. “It’s all about relevant training and experience for those who want to make it in open-wheel racing. A lot of grassroots motorsports didn’t change with the times with regards to new technology. When grassroots drivers are getting out-of-date training, it won’t take them to IndyCar,” George said. With the recent formation of the “Road to Indy” program, there is a much clearer path for would-be IndyCar race drivers. The program is fully funded by Mazda USA. Here are the basics of the program: Level 1: USF2000 Series champion gets a full scholarship into the StarMazda Series Level 2: StarMazda Series champion gets a full scholarship into Indy Lights Level Three: Indy Lights champion gets a partial scholarship into IndyCar Randy Bernard, the CEO of IndyCar, IZOD IndyCar series and Firestone Indy Lights Series, agreed.
