The Department of Parks and Recreation operates community and senior activity centers, sports and arts facilities, nature centers, and historic venues, as well as, maintains neighborhood parks, trails, athletic fields, and preserves open space for wildlife and flood mitigation. Our facilities and open spaces provide opportunities for our diverse communities to interact with each other and to meet new people. They’re also great spaces for community events and for people to engage in recreational activities. How do I learn more about the parks, facilities, programs, and events offered year-round? Summer Pools Make a splash this summer in any of the M-NCPPC swimming pools in Prince George’s County. Swim for fitness, for fun, and for meeting new friends. Enjoy the weather while swimming at the outdoor pools, or swim undercover at an indoor pool. Relax in a heated, indoor whirlpool, swim laps or play in a splash pool. Swimming lessons are offered for all ages and pgparks.com abilities. Registration for summer swim classes begins May 14 at 9 am. Register for aquatic exercise, water aerobics, or water walking. Water safety instruction and lifeguard training courses are also available. You can even host your child’s birthday party at a pool. Pre-schoolers, youths, teens, adults, seniors, and individual with disabilities can all stay cool in a pool this summer!
