Modern Road Trains Roads on and east of the Newell Highway approved for Type 1 A-double Road Trains (modern road trains) operating at General Mass Limits (GML) and Concessional Mass Limits (CML)

The following listed roads are approved for use by Type 1 A-Double Road Trains operating up to 36.5m at GML/CML subject to the vehicle and operator meeting the requirements of the National Class 2 Heavy Vehicle Road Train Authorisation (Notice) 2015 and all additional criteria listed below when operating in NSW:
• The operator of a Type 1 A-Double Road Train must hold National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS) maintenance management accreditation for the vehicle.
• The vehicle must also be fitted with certified Road Friendly Suspension (RFS) on the tri-axle dolly.
• The minimum extreme axle spacing must be at least 26.5m
• When operating a Type 1 A-Double Road Train at CML the operator must meet the conditions listed above and must hold National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS) mass management accreditation for the vehicle
Type 1 A-Double Road Trains that meet the additional requirements above are also known as Modern Road Trains.
