POSITION: Box Office Assistant

LOCATION: 5 Eliza Street, Newtown

REPORTS TO: Business Manager

WORKS WITH: The Box Office Manager and the Sydney Fringe Management Team

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Casual Employee

REMUNERATION: $60,000 per annum plus Superannuation pro rata

EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: Fixed Term Contract Monday 30th 2021 to Sunday 26th September 2021 Monday 30th August 10am to 6pm (Training Day)

31st August – 26th September Tuesday to Friday 5.30pm to 9.30pm Saturday 4.30pm to 9.30pm

ABOUT THE SYDNEY FRINGE

The Sydney Fringe Incorporated is a cultural industries organisation and advocacy group for the live arts and music sectors. The Sydney Fringe Festival was established in 2010 www.sydneyfringe.com and has received widespread industry support and engagement from the artistic community. In 2019, over 2,500 artists were featured in over 450 works across all disciplines across 70 venues.

Assisting artists is at the forefront of everything we do. The Fringe offers a professional platform from which emerging, early career and professional artists can promote their work to new audiences. The Fringe strives to ensure that all artists have a wonderful Fringe experience. We believe that Sydney's independent artists are what make this city so great, and as such we are dedicated to promoting the independent sector to Sydney's mainstream audiences.

To create a terrific Fringe experience for artists it is vital that care is also taken to maintain venue relationships and strive for audience satisfaction. The Sydney Fringe team goes to extreme lengths to ensure that audiences, artists and venues have a successful festival experience; this is the essence of what makes the Sydney Fringe so unique and is essential to the success of our festival.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting to the Business Manager and working directly with the Box Office Manager and the Sydney Fringe Management Team, the Sydney Fringe Festival Box Office Assistant will be responsible for working with the Box Office Manager to manage all aspects of ticket sales and box office operations, ensuring the smooth sale and delivery of all Sydney Fringe Festival tickets through effective Box Office operations.

BOX OFFICE ASSISTANT KEY COMPETENCIES

• Demonstrated experience in Box Office operations in a festival or event environment. • A working knowledge of ticketing systems (ideally Red61) and box office operations, or equivalent administration systems. • Demonstrated to develop effective relationships and efficiently manage competing priorities within a stressful, customer focused environment • Ability to show initiative and exercise sound decision making across all areas of the position and to work effectively independent of supervision. • Highly proficient communication, administration and written and verbal skills, including the use of digital technologies. • Discipline and resourcefulness, with the capacity to think laterally and solve problems creatively. • Understanding and respect of the contribution volunteers make to the not-for-profit sector • Professional, enthusiastic and positive attitude together with the ability to be a team player, with commitment to group success

• Values consistent with the goals and philosophy of The Sydney Fringe.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensuring the smooth sale and delivery of all Sydney Fringe Festival tickets through effective Box Office operations; • To respond to Box Office inquiries and complaints from the general public and Sydney Fringe Festival artists/presenters and ensure they are dealt with in an efficient, accurate and timely manner; • Work with the Box Office Manager to deliver: § Ticketing reporting and data as required by the Sydney Fringe Management Team (daily; weekly; monthly); § Daily distribution of door lists, door sheet and floats (where required) to Sydney Fringe Managed Venues; § Collecting daily door sheets and recording daily sales and statistics from Sydney Fringe Managed Venues/Satellite Box offices; § Daily reconciliation of sales from EFTPOS machines and cash door floats; • Liasing with Satellite Box Offices to ensure Sydney Fringe box office processes and procedures are followed; • Supervision of Volunteers in (selected) Sydney Fringe Venues to ensure compliance with Sydney Fringe box office process’ and procedures; • Processing Rushtix and artist complimentary ticket requests; • Recording and distribution Artist Passes; • Box Office housekeeping, ensuring the Box Office is kept clean and tidy; • Developing strong positive relationships with all Sydney Fringe Festival customers, artists, box office volunteers and staff to ensure a high level of satisfaction is maintained; • Engage in positive communication with the Sydney Fringe Management team, and highlight any potential risks; • Undertaking any other reasonable duties as required by the Management Team
