www.justicerealestate.com 518 East Main Street ♦ Lexington, Kentucky 40508 ♦ (859) 255-3657 In an area surrounded by world-renowned Thoroughbred farms such as Mt. Brilliant, Dixiana, and Spendthrift is a very special Thoroughbred nursery known as Poplar Hill Farm.

Presently 412 acres, Poplar Hill was part of a 2,000 acre land grant to Colonel William Russell around 1790. His son, Robert, built one of the first stone homes in Kentucky the following year—the pièce de résistance of Poplar Hill—its fully-restored guest house.

Throughout the second half of the nineteenth century, Hart Boswell owned the nucleus of the farm, which he called “Waverly Stock Farm”. He enjoyed a successful career of producing high-quality trotters, including Champion Nancy Hanks. In 1929, Henry Oliver purchased the farm and reinstated its original name of Poplar Hill. He commis- sioned noted Lexington architect, Robert W. McMeekin, to design and build the grand stone main residence in 1929. The current owner is in the process of restoring this magnificent home to its former glory.

Horse improvements include five barns with 87 stalls, new plank fencing, new water lines and waterers, as well as, underground utilities. A 1,850 foot manager’s home and 1,910 square foot office/employee house have also been totally refurbished. MAIN RESIDENCE
