NCCU PRESSURES MONTREAT INTO 30 TURNOVERS DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University forced 30 turnovers in a big 107-68 win over Montreat College on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at McDougald-McLendon Arena. The Eagles recorded 22 steals against the Cavaliers, which is second-most in a single-game in the Division I era. NCCU (5-8, 1-1 MEAC) amassed 23 steals against Johnson & Wales on Nov. 12, 2012 to set the current benchmark. NCCU opened the game with a 34-9 run, forcing the Cavaliers into 10 turnovers over the ten minute span. That set the tone for the game, as Rashaun Madison (Norfolk, Va.) bolted out of the gate making his fi rst three three-pointers during the run as well. Madison poured in a career high 21 points with nine steals, which ranks second all-time in single-game performances at NCCU. He also hit a total of fi ve treys, one shy of tying his career-high of six that he set earlier this year against Mississippi Valley State. Madison wasn’t alone in marking new career-highs, as Patrick Cole (Newark, N.J.) earned 23 points, fi ve assists and four steals which are all career-highs at NCCU and C.J. Wiggins (Richmond, Va.) notched 17 points and six assists which are both career-highs in his young career. Kyle Benton (Long Beach, Calif.) set new career-highs with 12 points and seven rebounds, as did Marius McAllister (Durham, N.C.) who created seven points.
