A Walk Rucksacks on coach after stop Points range 18-23

Starting at Ings (446986) it’s north on bridleways to Park and then south west to Sour Howes. Turning south we take a pathless descent to High Borrans and on via High House and Heaning to cross the A591 and continue to Whatsdike. The Dales Way is reached via Borwick Fold and followed to Hag End. Turning north west, Grandsire and School Knott are crossed to reach Windermere. Distance: 23.5kms (14.5mls); Ascent: 763m (2,500ft); Walk Points: 19.5 B Plus Walk Points range 14-18

From Windermere up to Orrest Head and north towards Near Orrest and Far Orrest. We continue north along Longmire Road, cross Trout Beck, over Church Bridge and NW towards Troutbeck where we pick up the steep Nanny Lane towards . South onto Bridge Lane (bridge closed at 20.10.18 reccee.) At the main road, a steep lane east by Windermere school, onto the road and into High Hay Wood and to the coach. Gaiters recommended! Drop off in Staveley. Follow paths/minor road on north side of River Kent east to Hagg Foot. Cross river and follow Dales Way west to Pinethwaite. We take a path north then minor roads to Windermere Station and coach. NB – the final part of the route from Pinethwaite has not been reccied. Distance: 14.5kms (9mls); Ascent: 457m (1,500ft); Walk Points: 12 C Walk Rucksacks on coach after stop Points range 7-11

From Staveley, this is a linear, unreccied walk. Heading south we cross Staveley Railway to Broadfold , west to Ashes and New Hall where we join the Dales Way which we follow to Crag House, Hag End, Pinethwaite, Clearbarrow and towards Bowness. Just before reaching Bowness we take a path north to Windermere and the coach. Distance: 13.4kms (8.36mls); Ascent: 274m (900ft); Walk Points: 10 D Walk Points range 5-7

From Windermere station we head up to Orrest Head where the views are superb. We descend through fields to Near Orrest and Far Orrest before turning back towards Crosses Farm, down through St Catherine’s and High Hay Woods and up through Old Ellery back to our starting point.
