Gannon Faculty, Students and Employees live out our deep commitment to service every day by volunteering our time and resources to our neighbors, near and far.

Our Students We educate students by combining academic and professional development with the social teachings of the Church. At a more fundamental level, the University helps students recognize, develop and use the gifts God has given them.

Our Community The Erie-Gannon Alliances to Improve Neighborhood Sustainability (Erie-GAINS) works to revitalize the neighborhood through civic engagement and community partnerships.

Our World Gannon prepares students to be global citizens through service opportunities, education for justice and experiences of mutual cultural exchange.

Our happiness, our stability in life and our joy come with knowing that our Lord is with us in our everyday experiences, carrying our crosses with us. Who is this Jesus who is with us? He is the one who has conquered sin and death and sickness and sadness. He has proven himself as the way, the truth and the life. We look at the empty tomb, we look at his victory on the cross and we know that we are indeed loved by a most merciful and good God who will not desert us. most rev. donald W. trautman I pray that this year we will grow in faith and that is bishop of the Diocese of Erie and our joy will rise and fall only on our relationship with publisher of FAITH Erie the Lord. Phil reminds us to havefun A furry little fella in Punxsutawney ! hat could be more charming than a small town Win Pennsylvania that throws its doors open to the world for a great big party each year in the deepest, darkest days of winter? How about the fact that it happens right here in the Diocese of Erie? Or that several members of Phil’s world-renowned, top-hatted Inner Circle also are members of Ss. Cosmas and Damian Parish? While Groundhog Day does have ties to Candlemas Day, a Catholic festival associated with honoring the Virgin Mary and the Presentation of Christ in the Temple, it also has roots in pre-Christian folklore related to predicting weather for the coming year. (Poor weather on that day meant the end of winter was in sight and a good crop was likely.) So let’s just be honest and say that we’re not going to go through too many histrionics trying to make a direct faith- filled connection to Groundhog Day. But, what the heck, let’s have some fun. After all, isn’t joy a gift of the Holy Spirit?
