(2) Mr Victor Dominello tabled the report of the Community Relations Commission entitled “Community Relations Report 2011”. (3) Mr Graham Annesley tabled the report of the Parramatta Stadium Trust for 2011. 13 PUBLIC ACCOUNTS COMMITTEE Mr Jonathan O’Dea, Chair, tabled the report of the Public Accounts Committee entitled “Report on the follow-up of the repeat recommendations from the Auditor-General’s financial audits 2010”, Report 4/55, dated May 2012. Ordered to be printed. 14 PETITIONS (1) The Clerk announced that the following members had each lodged petitions for presentation: Ms Clover Moore—from certain citizens requesting the provision of bus services to the Walsh Bay precinct and the provision of ferry services to the new wharf at Pier 2/3. Ms Clover Moore—from certain citizens requesting that companion animals be allowed to travel on all public transport. Ms Clover Moore—from certain citizens opposing the sale of animals in pet shops. Ms Clover Moore—from certain citizens requesting a ban on exotic animals performing in circuses. Ms Clover Moore—from certain citizens requesting a container deposit levy be introduced in New South Wales. Ms Clover Moore—from certain citizens requesting the removal of the blanket ban on pets in accommodation by-laws, rules, and in tenancy agreements. (2) The Clerk announced that the following member had lodged a petition for presentation signed by 500 or more persons: Mr Rob Stokes—from certain citizens opposing the continuation of commercial fishing and requesting a Government buyout of commercial fishing operators within the Pittwater. Katrina Hodgkinson—lodged 3 April 2012—Repeal of 2007 amendment to the Prevention of 844 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS OF THE NEW SOUTH WALES LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY Wednesday 9 May 2012 Cruelty to Animals Act and to legalise the banding of tails of neo-natal pups—(Mr Troy Grant). 15 GENERAL BUSINESS (COMMUNITY RECOGNITION NOTICES) The Speaker informed the House that in accordance with the resolution of 21 February 2012, general business notices of motions (general notices) nos 347, 349, 351 to 359, 361 to 364, 368, 370 to 373, 375 to 378, 380, 381, 384 to 389, 392 to 394, 396, 398, 399, 402 to 405, 407 to 414, 416, 418 to 426, 428 to 430, 432, 434 to 436, 438, 440, 441, 444 to 449, 451, 453, 454, 457 to 459, 461 to 464, 466, 467 and 469 had been reclassified as general business (community recognition notices). The Speaker obtained the leave of the House for consideration of these general business (community recognition notices) forthwith. Question proposed—That the following motions, given by the members as indicated, pursuant to notice, be formally agreed to: (1) PORT MACQUARIE BUSINESS AWARDS Mrs Leslie Williams—That this House congratulates Priscilla and Gary Turnbull from East Port Veterinary Hospital on winning the prestigious Excellence in Business Award at the 2011 Greater Port Macquarie Business Awards. (2) RURAL FIRE SERVICE Mrs Tanya Davies—That this House: (1) Notes that Bush Fire Awareness Week is from 24 September to 1 October 2011. (2) Notes the Rural Fire Service Open Day will be held on 24 September 2011. (3) Encourages communities to visit their local brigade to learn about the Rural Fire Service and the services it delivers. (4) Thanks the Rural Fire Service volunteers and management for their spirit and dedication to the community especially at times of natural threat. (3) AUSTRALASIAN FIREFIGHTER CHAMPIONSHIP Mrs Leslie Williams—That this House congratulates our firefighters for their service to the community and wishes all participating teams well in the upcoming Australasian Firefighter Championship to be held in Port Macquarie from 14 to 16 October 2011. (4) CHEMICAL BIOLOGY AT UNIVERSITY OF NEWCASTLE Ms Sonia Hornery—That this House: (1) Acknowledges Adam McCluskey and researchers at the Centre for Chemical Biology at University of Newcastle who have developed a technique to stop viruses and bacteria multiplying in the body. (2) Notes this technique could be used to fight diseases such as HIV, cancer, hepatitis C and neurological disorders. (5) AUSTRALIAN HISTORY COMPETITION Mrs Tanya Davies—That this House: 845 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS OF THE NEW SOUTH WALES LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY Wednesday 9 May 2012 (1) Notes the participation of 6,691 year 10 students from 141 schools in the inaugural Australian History Competition held on 21 June 2011. (2) Congratulates the 27 students from year 10 Glenmore Park High School for competing in the competition. (3) Congratulates the following Glenmore Park High School students for their achievements: Carl Ramirez (equal first place); Jarrod Robinson and Emily Adams (top 5%); Emily Duncan and Victoria Roberts (top 10%); Riley Brewis (top 15%); and Keighly Smith, Andrew Flores Castillo, Karina Nicholson, Brad Colling, Nathan Milgate and Sarah Crittenden (top 20%). (6) FROCK ON FASHION PARADE Ms Sonia Hornery—That this House: (1) Congratulates “Frock On”, which was held on 3 September 2011, for raising $50,000 for the Aspect Hunter School for children with autism. (2) Notes that the fashion design competition provides a professional platform to showcase the work of designers and to raise the profile of Newcastle as a fashion destination. (7) PENRITH READ CONVENTION Mrs Tanya Davies—That this House: (1) Congratulates the Penrith City Council’s Children's Services Team, Mission Australia Bronte House team, Rotary friends, Penrith Panthers, Centro Nepean Management and businesses and Nepean High School students for a successful “Paint Penrith REaD” convention on 1 and 2 September 2011. (2) Encourages all members, local councillors, business and community members to get involved and support this early intervention literacy program in their local communities. (8) MATT BANTING Mrs Leslie Williams—That this House congratulates Matt Banting, of Port Macquarie, on winning the Open Men’s Title at the Australian Surf Festival at age 17 and wishes him well for the upcoming World Junior Championships. (9) ST MARYS SPRING FESTIVAL Mrs Tanya Davies—That this House: (1) Congratulates the St Marys Development Committee, with the assistance of Penrith City Council, on delivering the St Marys Spring Festival on Saturday 3 September 2011. (2) Notes the St Marys Spring Festival attracts over 15,000 visitors. (3) Thanks the St Marys Development Committee, specifically, Phil Martin, Tom and Norma Thorburn, Tony Biddulph and other volunteers. (10) TRIUMPH MOTORCYCLE RIDE FOR CHARITY Mrs Leslie Williams—That this House acknowledges the hard work of Jo Nixon and David Saunderson and the organising committee of the Triumph Motorcycle Ride for Charity in Port 846 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS OF THE NEW SOUTH WALES LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY Wednesday 9 May 2012 Macquarie that raised $11,500 for prostate research in 2011.
