The movie was a huge success at the box office. The movie had received the Satellite Awards for Best Visual and Sound Effects. The movie reached $379.2 million in the US, which brought it into the top 10 highest-grossing movies ever in that country as of August 2009. Revenge of the Fallen closed its box office run with $402,111,870 in North America and $836,303,693 worldwide, being the seventeenth highest-grossing film of all time domestically, and the 38th highest-grossing film of all time. The movie had taken video and image editing to another level in the world of movies with a lot of effects such as aliens transforming into cars, lorries, and planes, which the audience hugely liked. The movie is based on robotic aliens who either come to destroy the planet Earth called DECEPTICONS or on the other hand AUTOBOTS who came to rescue the planet Earth from the DECEPTICONS. The AUTOBOTS hide on planet Earth by transforming themselves into cars and the DECEPTICONS into cars, planes. A lot of money had been spent just to animate OPTIMUS PRIME, the leader of the AUTOBOTS. Almost every part of the movie has been made using animations and effects such as fire effects when the robots shots at each other, brush tool for painting small and intricate parts of their structure. 3 4 2.0 FIRE EFFECT Fire effects have been used in almost every part of the movie where the robots shots at each other and flames on the body of the robots. The image below shows how the fire effects have been used on the robots. These fire flames have been made using special flames and fire brushes on Adobe Photoshop and Abode After Effects with 3D effects and the flames moves n all directions and constantly changes the colors of the fire by making it more darker to make it appear like real. Also, the fire effects have been used during explosions with big flames and smokes coming from the place where the explosion took place. Fire effects were used when the aliens were coming to the Planet Earth in forms of big fireballs, which have very good fire effects around the big balls. The movie had lots of amazing sound effects as there were a lot firings and explosions with surround effects that is sound coming from all directions. Good sound recording were done from the exhaust sound of the car which is unique for all vehicles when acceleration, along with sound of planes which were recorded clearly without any noisy sound. The most realistic sound effects may originate from original sources. Other sounds like the entrance of the car with inspirational music, suspense music were made using musical instruments and edited using special mixing software. Depending on the effect, recordists may use several recorders and a large number of microphones. For recording "Onboard" car sounds (which include the car interiors), a three-microphone technique is common. Two microphones record the engine directly: one is taped to the underside of the hood, near the engine block. The second microphone is covered in a windscreen and tightly attached to the rear bumper, within an inch or so of the tail pipe. The third microphone, which is often a stereo microphone, is stationed inside the car to get the car interior. Once the sound effects are recorded, they are usually loaded into a computer integrated with an audio non- linear editing system. This allows a sound editor or sound designer to heavily manipulate a sound to meet his or her needs. 6 4.0 ANIMATION Animation is the process of creating a continuous motion and shape change. Animation creation methods include the traditional animation creation method and those involving stop motion animation of two and three-dimensional objects, such as paper cutouts, puppets and clay figures. Images are displayed in a rapid succession, usually 24, 25, or 30 frames per second. Director Michael Bay and his $150-million budget weren't about to have Optimus Prime talking through a strobe-like voice box. "If you're gonna watch a movie for two hours, it's kind of boring if you don't see something move," says visual effects supervisor Scot Farrar. This is why so much money had been spent just to animate the robots and it shows the important that animation have in todays movie and how people likes it. In the movie it shows the complete transformation of the robot to the car or lorry. It shows how the headlight becomes the eyes of the robot. Stop-motion animation is used to describe animation created by physically manipulating real-world objects and photographing them one frame of film at a time to create the illusion of movement. There are many different types of stop-motion animation, usually named after the medium used to create the animation. Computer animation encompasses a variety of techniques, the unifying factor being that the animation is created digitally on a computer. 2D animation techniques tend to focus on image manipulation while 3D techniques usually build virtual worlds in which characters and objects move and interact. 3D animation can create images that seem real to the viewer. 7 5.0 CONCLUSION After the above discussion, effects are very important nowadays with almost every movies making use of different types of ideas to make movies.
