PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2014-present New Haven, CT Dean, Benjamin Franklin College Dean,  Provides academic and personal counseling to 450 undergraduates. Directs residential college functions including housing and extracurricular activities for Yale College, and appointed by Dean of Yale College to four Yale College committees: Secretary, Faculty Committee on Athletics; Secretary, Steering Committee on Yale College Expansion; Marshall, Mitchell and Rhodes; and Committee on Majors. Served on Advisory Committee for Yale College Dean search, appointed by the president.

2006-2014 Yale University - Undergraduate Admissions New Haven, CT Associate Director Director of On-Campus Interviewing Freshman Faculty Advisor  Managed and evaluated all admissions applications – approximately 1,300 – within a fixed geographic area. This required collaboration with a diverse constituency, including deans, faculty, coaches, alumni, counselors, students, and administrative staff. Also conducted outreach, including visiting secondary schools and alumni recruiting.  Lead training workshops for secondary schools with a special focus on writing college essays.  Acted as special assistant to the Dean of Admissions to handle sensitive admissions cases, including interviewing and advising recruited athletes.  Directed campus interviewing program for prospective students, including hiring and managing Yale seniors who conduct 2,000 admissions interviews each year.  Developed and presented public talks designed to promote Yale to prospective applicants to large audiences.  Advised six freshmen annually in Timothy Dwight College, most of whom were first generation college students.  Directed publications, overseeing the development of a new Yale viewbook and science viewbook.

2004-2006 Freelance Journalist Cape Code, MA and New Haven, CT  Reported and broadcasted features for National Public Radio (NPR) and WGBH on region’s arts and culture.  Reported and wrote profiles on public schools for Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now (ConnCan); features for Barnard Magazine, the college’s alumni publication; and features for newspapers and magazines in Massachusetts.

2003-2004 Vineyard Gazette Martha’s Vineyard, MA Arts and Features Editor  Managed a staff of ten reporters, including salaried and freelance writers, developing story ideas, reporting, writing and editing.  Edited Weekend and Arts sections of historic weekly community newspaper.  Ran the newspaper’s intern program – the equivalent to a Journalism 101 summer course for college writers.  Reported and wrote features and reviews on the island’s arts and culture, with an emphasis on theater.

2001-2002 COPIA: The American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts Napa, CA Publications Editor  Interviewed and profiled contributors including Julia Child, Robert Mondavi and James Polshek. Managed and edited corporate publications including quarterly programs calendar and inaugural books. Supervised designers, printers and departments under tight deadlines.
