Special Sunday Service in support of Motorfest 28th August It had been a long time since we had seen a Sunday service on the Preston- Ormskirk line, however the Community Rail Partnership had agreed to pursue opportunities for one off, event-driven Sunday services that might be viable. OPSTA proposed and Northern agreed to operate this service at its cost and without any subsidy or support funding on the basis that the Motorfest event would drive passenger levels over 300 which in simple terms would cover the cost of a single shift operation.
