In order to mark and celebrate the ten years of the blessed existence of Mizoram University (2001 - 2011), this Editorial is happy to go down memory lane as it were, to very briefly highlight and put on record some of the key milestones that have made the University what it is today. It also serves as a mark of respect to, and acknowledgement of all those who have come before, who have contributed to the founding and establishment of this seat of learning, and many of whom are no longer with us today. Mizoram University was established as a Central University by an Act of Parliament on 25th April 2000 and started functioning from 2nd July 2001 with the appointment of Prof.A.K.Sharma as its first Vice-Chancellor, and Shri P.C.Lawmkunga, IAS, and Shri Vanlalhluta, IAAS, as its first Registrar and Finance Officer respectively. The framing of Mizoram University Ordinances, Regulations and Rules, Amendment of Statutes, and the formation of Statutory Bodies like the Academic Council, the Executive Council and the Finance Committee were part of the important initial works

Abstract Webometrics is concerned with measuring aspects of the web: web sites, web pages, parts of web pages, words in web pages, hyperlinks, web search engine results. Webometrics is huge and easily accessible source of information, there are limitless possibilities for measuring or counting on a huge scale of the number of web pages, the number of web sites, the number of blogs) or on a smaller scale. This study found the traffic rank in India, especially Central Universities of North East Region, the best-ranked Central University of North East Region are NEHU and TU with traffic ranks of 8484 and 8,511 respectively. Nagaland University has the highest number of average pages viewed by users per day (4.1), Sikkim University has highest (55.7%) upstream site of Google among other Central Universities of North East Region in India, 100% of sub domain at “manipuruniv.ac.in” for Manipur University website and “cau.ac.in” for Central Agricultural University.

    KUMAR KUNAL Ph No.: 7135044627.E-mail: [email protected] Academic Qualifications • Pursuing Masters in Mechanical Engineering at University of Houston Current GPA: 4.0/4.0 • Graduated in May 2006 with B.Tech in Mechanical engineering from IIT Guwahati CPI (Cumulative Performance Index): 8.24 / 10 B.Tech Project Title – Modeling and Shape Optimization of Flexible Manipulator Proposed Work – The project had two main aspects- a) Numerical Modeling of the Manipulator to study its Dynamic behavior. b) Shape optimization of the Manipulator to improve the system performance. For the modeling purpose various numerical methods were explored. Mesh free method (MLPG) was tried out first but it was too time consuming. Finally FEM with a new type of shape functions were implemented for the modeling purpose. For Optimization purpose Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) was used. Mizoram is a north eastern state having 32-degree colleges only not progressed much in higher education with respect to quality and accesses. The present study examined the awareness on RUSA among college teachers in Mizoram and study the best practices implemented in the colleges of Mizoram. evaluated the RUSA programme in Mizoram. A structured interview schedule was developed and administered to collect the data from the 52 respondents. The findings of the study that the teachers of Mizoram are not aware about the centrally sponsored scheme RUSA. Government of Mizoram must take care of that and arrange orientation training programme for the degree college teachers on RUSA. Government of Mizoram must take care to proper utilize the funds under RUSA and colleges should give more emphasis to increase GER.     JSS STU (SJCE) at IIT Guwahati, Alcheringa 2016 A team of 44 students and 1 Faculty Representative from SJCE Mysore recently attended Alcheringa 2016, IIT Guwahati’s Signature Fest. Diverse Teams including Dance, Theatrics, Literary and Music, alongside solo artists for Voice of Alcheringa, Roadiez, Miss Campus Princess, Miss and Mister Alcheringa, Classical and Non-Classical Dance, Face Painting and Others participated in the fest. The three day fest had a footfall of over 30,000 people from over 300 colleges. The team returned with flying colours, winning numerous prizes. The dance team won the first place in ‘Electric Heels’, the stand-up comedy team came first in the event ‘Why so serious?’, Ashwin Prabhu bagged the title of ‘Voice of Alcheringa’, Meghna won first place in Solo Classical Dance, Harsha Patil won the title ‘Campus Princess’, Sujan won the Roadiez contest, Apparnaa was named ‘Miss Alcheringa’, Caroll and Shashank won the Rangoli Contest, Nikhil bagged 2nd place in Face Painting, The College heartily congratulates all participants for their effort and dedication.
