Day1: DEPART CANADA Board your overnight flight (not included). Day2: DELHI AT LEISURE Welcome to India! On arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport, you are greeted with a traditional floral garland and transferred to your modern five-star hotel. Tonight, join your Tour Director for a Welcome Reception with a delicious meal. (Welcome Reception) Day3: DELHI SIGHTSEEING Start the day with a cycle rickshaw ride through Old Delhi including the bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk market. Stop for a photo at the impressive Red Fort, then visit the Mahatma Gandhi memorial at Raj Ghat. You also explore India’s largest mosque, the magnificent Jama Masjid, built by Shah Jahan in 1650. Continue to the house where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life, now a National Memorial and Museum. Lunch time finds you in the shadow of the soaring Qutub Minar, a World Heritage listed tower dating back to 1193. Afterwards, tour the wide boulevards of New Delhi. Drive along the ceremonial Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate and Parliament House. Return to the hotel for check-in and relaxation. This afternoon witness the hustle and bustle of everyday life as you make your way through the city to Agra Fort, a powerful fortress of red sandstone. After your tour through the palatial Royal Pavilions and gardens there is free time to freshen up. Later, attend a spectacular stage musical production, supported by cutting edge audio-visual effects, which follows the ‘Saga of Love’ that inspired the Taj Mahal.(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner) Day5: AGRA - JAIPUR There is the option of witnessing the rising sun’s rays glistening on the pure white marble of the Taj Mahal this morning. Then drive west to the ancient Mughul capital of Fatehpur Sikri, now a deserted city full of architectural wonder. Enter from the Agra Gate to the huge rectangular courtyard where ambassadors were received and imagine court life in the 16th century. Lunch is served at the majestic Laxmi Vilas Palace in Bharatpur. This palace and heritage hotel has been home to the Baroda royal family for over 120 years. After lunch, continue to the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur, stunning capital of the state of Rajasthan.(Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Lunch) Day6: JAIPUR SIGHTSEEING A unique excursion today as you ascend by jeep to the Amber Fort, a superb example of architecture, its terraces and ramparts reflected in the Maota Lake below. Inside, the royal halls are decorated with intricate ivory, mirrors and glass, complemented by exquisite wall paintings. Back in Jaipur, see the famous ‘Hawa Mahal’ (The Palace of Winds) and visit the city Palace, now a museum housing a fabulous collection of Rajasthani and Mughal Art. A final stop is made at the famous Jantar Mantar, the observatory, constructed between 1727 and 1734 by Maharajah Jai Singh II. Back at the hotel you are at leisure.(Buffet Breakfast) Day7: JAIPUR - SAMODE Enjoy a leisurely morning where you are free to explore the famous bazaars of the city. This afternoon drive to the sleepy village of Samode, only a short drive from Jaipur, but seemingly a world away. Your hotel is set in 20 acres of lush garden, modeled in the Mughal style. This evening you are honoured guests at Samode Palace, the restored ancestral residence of the royal family which is now an exclusive heritage hotel. My Itinerary

Day1: DEPART CANADA Board your overnight flight (not included). Day2: CAIRO AT LEISURE Welcome to the timeless land of the Pharaohs, a vast treasure trove of ancient temples, tombs and monuments, which has attracted travellers for centuries. On arrival in Cairo, you are met and transferred to your hotel to relax and settle in. Day3: CAIRO SIGHTSEEING After breakfast there is a detailed pre-tour briefing with your Tour Director. Then commence your exploration of Cairo with a visit to the Citadel for breath-taking views over the city. It owes its present outline to Mohammed Ali, whose great Mosque you visit next. Continue to Tahrir Square, focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution. Now on to the world-famous Egyptian Museum. Among the many exhibits are the fabulous artefacts recovered from the tomb of King Tutankhamun. Later, drive to the Pyramids to witness the magical Sound and Light Show an unforgettable introduction to the world of ancient Egypt. (Buffet Breakfast) Day4: CAIRO – LUXOR – JOIN CRUISE Transfer to the airport for your flight south to Luxor, founded around the ancient site of Thebes. On arrival, drive immediately to Karnak, the largest temple complex ever built by man. Walk through the avenue of Ram-headed sphinxes, past the statue of Rameses II, to the vast Hypostyle Hall, housing 134 giant decorated columns. Later, get to know your cruise boat, and set sail for Dendara.(Buffet Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner) Day5: ON BOARD SHIP Visit the Temple of Dendara this morning. It was built in the 1st century BC by Ptolemy VIII, and then later, Roman Emperors continued to decorate it in honour of Hathor, the Goddess of maternity, love and music. One of the best preserved temples in all Egypt it also contains a rare depiction of Cleopatra VII and Caesarian, the son of Julius Caesar. Cruise back along the Nile to Luxor, arriving around midday where the rest of the day is at your leisure. In the cool of early evening, visit the ancient Temple of Luxor, which lay hidden for thousands of years.(Buffet Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner) Day6: ON BOARD SHIP Across the Nile, to the west of the city, lies the necropolis of ancient Thebes. Stop for a photo of the Colossi of Memnon; these two giant seated figures of Amenhotep III once guarded his mortuary temple. Continue to the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the rare female Pharaohs. In the nearby Valley of the Kings, the Egyptian kings planned to meet their Gods in the afterlife. See how when you visit some of their tombs! Return to your cruise ship now and set sail via the Esna Lock to Edfu. (Buffet Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner) Day7: ON BOARD SHIP This morning, have a look inside the well-preserved Temple of Horus at Edfu, dedicated to the Falcon God. After exploring this fascinating site, your cruise continues to the exotic city of Aswan. Don your galabeyas (traditional Egyptian attire), for a fun-filled Egyptian dinner and galabeya party.(Buffet Breakfast / Lunch / Highlight Dinner) Day8: ON BOARD SHIP Begin your sightseeing with a motorboat ride to the well preserved temple complex of Isis on the island of Philae. Visit the High Dam and granite quarries to see the unfinished obelisk commissioned by Hatshepsut, but abandoned due to a fault line. Complete your day by sailing in a traditional felucca around Aswan’s botanic gardens and a very English high tea before sunset.(Buffet Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner) Day9: ON BOARD SHIP Spend the morning at leisure in Aswan or perhaps join the optional excursion by air to the temples of Abu Simbel. In the afternoon, sail for Kom Ombo. It’s uniquely dedicated to both Horus the Elder and Sobek the Crocodile headed God. Admire the colossal statue of Rameses II and the great alabaster sphinx. Continue to Sakkara to see the Step Pyramid of King Zoser, the oldest pyramid in the world. In the afternoon, a guided tour of Giza shows you the enigmatic Sphinx and magnificent Pyramids, the last survivor of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Day1: DEPART CANADA Board your overnight flight (not included). Day2: PARIS AT LEISURE Welcome to Paris! On arrival at Charles de Gaulle Airport, your airport transfers leave for the tour hotel at 08:30, 11:00 & 13:30. After checking-in, the capital’s grand boulevards and world famous landmarks are yours to explore. Hotel: Le Méridien Etoile.(Welcome Reception) Day3: PARIS – REIMS – CHAMPAGNE Follow the Marne Valley eastwards to Reims, important in French history as the coronation place of generations of monarchs. Enjoy an orientation tour showing you the Gothic cathedral, one of the finest in France with its spectacular facade and glorious rose windows. After some free time to explore, embark on a beautiful drive through the leafy vineyards to Epernay, internationally renowned as the epicentre of France’s most famous export. All will be revealed on your visit to the cellars of one of the great Champagne houses. Experience the French way of life tonight as you settle in to your peaceful countryside hotel, nestled in the heart of the Champagne vineyards.(Buffet Breakfast) Day4: CHAMPAGNE – VERDUN – STRASBOURG Make a poignant stop at Verdun this morning, site of the heroic French stand in the First World War. See the ossuary and memorial tower that overlooks 15000 war graves. From here take the Voie Sacrée (Sacred Route), the main supply artery used by the French Army during the Battle of Verdun. Continue through the rugged forms of the wild Vosges Mountains to the Alsace region; bordered by the Rhine, it has changed nationality four times in just over one hundred years. Tonight, in the regional capital of Strasbourg, you have the choice of a number of great restaurants for your dining pleasure.(Buffet Breakfast / Dine Around) Day5: STRASBOURG SIGHTSEEING Situated halfway between Prague and Paris, Strasbourg is rightly named the ‘city at the crossroads’. It’s also the official seat of the European Parliament and you see the futuristic buildings on your orientation tour. In contrast, an included canal cruise plies the tranquil waterways of Petite France where craftsmen’s houses were built directly above the channels of the River Ill. Disembark in the heart of Strasbourg close to the old pedestrianised walled city and wonderful Gothic cathedral with its astronomical clock. Take the ‘wine-road’, seeing the fine vineyards, beautiful half-timbered houses decked with geraniums and perhaps a stork for which the province is famous. Stop in the tiny town of Riquewihr, home of fine Riesling wine and Kugelhupf cake. Continue on to Colmar, possibly the prettiest city in France! Discover why on your orientation tour through the Old Town and little Venice. There is time to wander down the Rue des Marchands (Merchants Street) and Rue Merciére (Haberdasher Street) where there are many picturesque old houses and also see the imposing Dominican church. This evening is at leisure in Strasbourg.(Buffet Breakfast) Day7: STRASBOURG – DIJON Today’s route takes you alongside the forested ridges of the Jura Mountains into Burgundy. For lunch you are guests of the elegant Château de Pommard, set amongst a sea of vines. Like Napoleon before you, enjoy the wine, delicious food and hospitality of this beautiful estate. This afternoon continue to the nearby town of Beaune with its town ramparts, historical mansions, half-timbered houses, flowered squares and gardens. The town’s most famous medieval treasure is the Hospices de Beaune, and you visit its inner courtyard to admire the colourful geometric tiled roof. Day8: DIJON SIGHTSEEING Dijon has many handsome buildings recalling the time when it was capital of the Duchy of Burgundy. Consequently your sightseeing here shows you the picturesque mansions in the Rue des Forges, Notre-Dame, Dijon’s most famous church and includes a visit to the ancient Palais des Ducs, former seat of the powerful Dukes of Burgundy. The rest of the day is yours to do as you please! This evening, at your Celebration Dinner, savour the wine and flavours of this rich region at a typical local restaurant.(Buffet Breakfast / Celebration Dinner) Day9: DIJON – PARIS Cross the great agricultural lands of France, and through the impressive Forest of Fontainebleau to return to the French capital. On arrival, a relaxing Seine River cruise through the heart of the city provides a unique insight into Paris. See the cathedral and walk through the Roman gate to tour the narrow lanes and old squares. Now drive by the lively Rambla and along the Passeig de Gràcia, adorned with elegant wrought-iron street lamps and some of the most flamboyant Modernist buildings. Continue through the Eixample district, to visit Gaudi’s extraordinary, unfinished Sagrada Familia church. Both inside and out, it defies belief! The afternoon is at leisure.(Buffet Breakfast) Day4: BARCELONA - PENISCOLA - VALENCIA Follow the sunny Costa Dorada past the rice fields of the Ebro Delta to stop in Peñíscola. Now through the famous orange groves to Valencia where you see the ultra modern Centre of Arts and Sciences. Start off in the independent Vatican State, the richest community in the world. Visit St Peter’s Basilica housing one of Michelangelo’s early works, the Pieta, and see the splendid dome completed after his death. Now relive the glory of ancient Rome as you cross the River Tiber to visit the mighty Colosseum. Finally, look out over the site of the Roman Forum, once the bustling centre of commerce, law and religion.
