FOOTBALL FILLED WEEKEND AT HALL INCLUDES “CHALK TALK” WITH COLTS FAN CELEBRATION AND “A FOOTBALL LIFE” ALSO PART OF WEEKEND PROGRAMS AT HALL OF FAME

CANTON, OHIO – Hall of Fame HARRY CARSON will be on hand at the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014 for a special Gold Jacket Chalk Talk. Carson’s appearance highlights a weekend filled with special programming at the Hall of Fame for football fans everywhere.

Gold Jacket Chalk Talk with Harry Carson Carson will be on hand inside the Hall’s Gold Jacket Lounge on Saturday. The Chalk Talk will begin at 11 a.m. at which time Carson will share many stories and lessons learned on and off the football field. The 45-minute program is followed by a meet-and-greet with visitors. Guests can use cell phones or cameras for photos or purchase photos on site. No autographs are permitted. The Gold Jacket Chalk Talk is included with the price of admission.

An alumnus of South Carolina State, Carson was drafted in the fourth round of the 1976 NFL Draft by the . He quickly established himself as the team’s starting middle linebacker and team leader. He was selected to nine Pro Bowls and named All-NFC five times in his career that spanned 13 seasons, all with the Giants. Carson was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006.

Colts Fan Weekend Fans traveling to northeast Ohio for the matchup against the Cleveland Browns can take advantage of Colts Fan Weekend at the Hall. The special celebration for Colts fans takes place from Friday, Dec. 5 through Monday, Dec. 8. The Hall of Fame is conveniently located less than an hour’s drive from FirstEnergy Stadium. Highlighting the themed weekend are giveaways and a special Colts exhibit.

The first 500 fans dressed in Colts gear to visit the Hall of Fame starting on Friday will receive a free Hall of Fame rally towel. Also, fans dressed in Colts apparel will be given a free pack of Panini cards featuring the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2014 with a purchase in the Hall of Fame Store.

The special exhibit curated by the Hall’s staff will feature a variety of artifacts pulled from the museum’s archives that chronicle the long history of the Colts franchise. Among the rarely seen artifacts featured in the exhibit include the draft card submitted by the Colts at the 2012 NFL Draft to select Stanford quarterback , the jersey worn by wide receiver when he set the NFL’s single-season record for receptions on Dec. 15, 2002, ’s jersey from his MVP season in 2008, and the helmet worn by safety Bob Sanders in 2007 when he was named the NFL Defensive Player of Year.

The Colts rivalry with Cleveland dates back to the 1950s. The Colts franchise’s started in Baltimore in 1953 and the team relocated to Indianapolis following the 1983 season. Cleveland holds a slim 14-13 lead in the regular season series between the two clubs. The teams have split the four playoff games over the years.

A Football Life Guests visiting the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, Dec. 6 will have the opportunity to enjoy special showings of two different episodes of the NFL Network series “A Football Life.” This week’s screening of “ & : A Football Life” will be shown at 2:00 p.m. followed by “: A Football Life” at 3:00 p.m. The one-hour documentaries are produced by NFL Films and will be shown inside the Hall’s Gold Jacket Lounge.

Butkus and Sayers were drafted by the with back-to-back picks in the first round of the 1965 NFL Draft and became iconic players of their era. “A Football Life,” profiles their life and careers through interviews with family and former teammates including Hall of Fame tight end .

Staubach’s Hall of Fame career was delayed by his active duty in the U.S. Navy during which time he served in Vietnam. In eleven seasons as the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, Staubach led the NFL in passing four times and retired as the league’s all-time leading passer.

“Roger brought out the hero in all of us,” Cowboys teammate Drew Pearson shares in the documentary.

Each episode of this season’s “A Football Life” is being shown at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The series aligns with the Hall of Fame’s Mission to Honor the Heroes of the Game, Preserve its History, Promote its Values & Celebrate Excellence EVERYWHERE.
