MONICA LEE-MÜLLER Biography Monica Lee-Müller has been the Deputy Managing Director of the Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (HML) since March 2007. HML is the company responsible for the management and operation of the 248,000- square-metre Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

As the company’s Deputy Managing Director, Ms Lee-Müller leads the HML’s senior management staff to plan and implement business strategies for the HKCEC, with focus on business development, and overall finance and human resources management. She also serves on the HKCEC Executive Leadership Committee and regularly represents the HKCEC at industry events and overseas trade shows.

Ms Lee-Müller joined HML in February 1994 and has since held several managerial positions within marketing and sales role. In 1999, she became Marketing and Sales Manager, overseeing the management and operation of the entire department. Subsequently in February 2004, Ms Lee-Müller was promoted to Director of Business Development. During her three-year tenure in the capacity, she developed and implemented business strategies, which effectively enhanced and maximized venue utilisation and revenues for the HKCEC.

An active facilitator of the MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention & Exhibition) industry, Ms Lee-Müller is an Executive Committee member of Hong Kong Exhibition & Convention Industry Association (HKECIA), the immediate past Vice Chair of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Hong Kong Chapter and was a mentor at the ICCA (International Congress & Convention Association) 2003 Congress in Busan, Korea. She served as a mentor (2003 – 2006) at the Hong Kong University SPACE Community College and currently the Vice Chairman of Course Validation Panel of various Hotel, Service & Tourism Courses for Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Chi Wan), also a member of the Advisory Committee on School of Hotel & Tourism Management, the Hongkong Polytechnic University.

Ms Lee-Müller is a proven veteran in the hospitality industry for nearly 25 years. Before joining HML, she has held a number of senior positions in various international hotels in Hong Kong and was a member of the opening team of the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, where she established and managed one of the earliest convention operations in Hong Kong.

Ms Lee-Müller holds a Master degree in Management from Macquarie University (Sydney). She has received a Professional Certificate in Event Management & Marketing from the School of Business and Public Management of George Washington University, USA.
