A burst of offensive productivity helped carry them to victory and brought home win No. 200 for coach Currier. TWO FOR ONE The electric environment of night games at Baujan Field saw another epic match as well as a goal for the ages, on Sept. 29,2005, when the Flyers tied the Michigan Wolverines 2-2. Senior midfielder Terry Alvino sent a blistering laser of a shot worthy of his current professional status over the helpless Michigan keeper from 35 yards out to even the score. X MARKS THE SPOT The heated rivalry between the Xavier Musketeers and the Flyers continued in a classic clash on Oct. 28, 2005. An invigorated UD squad trounced the Musketeers 4-0, adding another notch in the win column for UD in the on-going Dayton/Xavier grudge match. X REVISITED Fans set a new attendance record on Nov. 5, 2011 when 2,137 of the Flyer Faithful packed into Baujan for UD’s season finale against Xavier. Although, the match ended in a draw, the game set a new attendance record at Baujan Field. GOING TO THE BIG DANCE The 1997 Dayton Flyers came from out of nowhere to take the Atlantic 10 conference by storm. After conquering the Atlantic 10 regular season and post-season tournament, the Flyers found themselves only one game away from the NCAA tournament. The NCAA play-in game that ensued saw the Flyers lose a heartbreaker to the Rider Broncs 3-1. DRAW THE LINE The steady rainfall that soaked Baujan Field right up until kickoff could not dampen the spirits of the then-unranked Flyers when they took on No. 12 Oakland Golden Grizzlies on September 26,2003. The Flyers fought valiantly and earned a draw against a nationally ranked opponent, the first step in a series of victories that would eventually propel them to a No.8 national ranking later in the season. WIN IN A MINUTE Yet another nationally-ranked opponent fell under the mighty boot of the Flyers in 2003 when UD defeated the Massachusetts Minutemen on October 12 in dramatic, come-from-behind fashion. The Flyers twice fell behind, with UMass going up 1-0 and then again 2-1 after the Flyers evened the score in the first half. UD then went on to score two unanswered goals and added another notch to their giant-killer belt with the 3-2 victory. SURPASSING ROY CRAIG Dennis Currier became the program’s winningest head coach when the Flyers beat Richmond 2-1 on October 16, 2011. Greg Enstone finished a loose ball in the goal mouth to score the game-winning strike in the 81st minute. 2012 UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON MEN’S SOCCER - 7 HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE THE FLYER FAITHFUL Imagine a capacity crowd of red and blue clad fans united in one The advantage that a capacity crowd creates is undeniable. common purpose: In the past decade Dayton has a winning percentage of .810 at Supporting their team.
