Automatic 722.6 pdf

Continue John is an ardent writer, gamer and guitar lover. Former automatic gearbox repairer, welder and game developer. When your job is repairing faulty automatic transmissions, you are used to seeing the same offenders rolling through your door on a regular basis. Despite the popularity of automatic transmissions we will say in this article, they all have some fairly common issues that have seen many drivers calling for the restoration of services from the side of the road, often standing next to a fairly expensive vehicle. The push to improve driving comfort, increase efficiency, keep the weight down, and lower production costs have all contributed to a number of gears being a great drive when they function properly, but are ultimately riddled with flaws that can cause transmission to be wrong or worse, stop working completely. Here are three popular transmissions that I regularly see on my work bench with quite serious problems.1 GM 5L40-EThe 5L40-E is a five-speed that was used mainly between 2000 and 2007 in a number of cars, primarily BMW, Range Rovers and Cadillacs. Because of the high nature of the end of the 5L40-E vehicles was used in, there are many more on the road today, almost a decade after the transmission was faded. The 5L40-E has a number of minor problems, including some that are only now becoming commonplace as these transfer ages, such as the complete loss of drive first thing in the morning (i.e. when the vehicle is cold), but a large one for this particular transmission causes a complete loss of drive indefinitely. The GM-5L40-E is popular with BMW, Range Rovers and Cadillacs.BA TransmissionsBonus ReadingThe torque converter used in the GM 5L40-E is prone to failure. When this happens, the frictional materials in this converter break down and contaminate the oil. The oil fragments then circulate throughout the transmission, where, eventually, it will end up in the filter. Now obviously the filter is designed to stop garbage as it does get where it shouldn't, but as there's so much that's actually going on, the filter becomes completely blocked, starving the transfer of oil. Without a sufficient flow of the clutch oils in the transmission itself cannot be properly applied and begin to disintegrate, contaminating the transmission fluid with debris, which then circulates through the transmission, where it eventually blocks the filter. It's a vicious cycle. Unfortunately, when it comes to the point where the transmission has a partial or total loss of drive, damage is usually done and there is little for it other than to get a complete repair. Or replace the transmission completely. Mercedes-Benz 5G-Tronic 722.6Sthest and then called just 722.6 in This gear was Mercedes-Benz' the market is a five-speed automatic transmission, and is still used to this day in some and Ssangyong models, although Mercedes themselves have phased it out in favor of an updated seven-speed iteration. Mercedes was very confident in the versatility of this gearbox, fitting it into everything from compact road to long vans. Without detailing every potential malfunction this transmission is known to get, there are three particularly common malfunctions that occur. The first, and least serious, is again associated with the torque converter. Wear in the case of valve 722.6 can cause the converter to fall in and out of prison when it does not, leading to a sense of rudimentary or rumbling. There are repairs that can be carried out on the valve body to fix the problem, but if it remains to progress too far the torque replacement converter will be needed. Many Mercedes ran on the 5G-Tronic 722.6 gear, including the popular S-Class.IFCAR The next big problem for the 5G-Tronic is the failure of what is known as a conductor plate, or electrics package. Essentially just a plastic board with metal contacts running through it, the conductor plate is responsible for holding the signal and from the 5G-Tronic several electrical components to the fork where the transmission is connected to the vehicle. It also houses internal speed sensors, which are the most common point of failure. When this part fails the normal result of the vehicle occurs in malfunction mode (also known as limp mode) and will only work in one gear. Finally, the biggest common malfunction with these gearboxes, and the most significant in terms of repair, is the wear issue with the transmission itself. The seals in the transmission that are responsible for keeping the clutch running properly wear out over time. This applies to all seals, of course, but at 722.6 they wear out with almost hourly accuracy. It is very unusual for a 5G-Tronic to manage much more than 80,000 miles without the need for a full lane down to replace the internal seals. And given that most drivers don't notice this kind of problem until it starts doing damage inside the gearbox, the lane down often turns into a complete overhaul. The Audi 01J Multitronic 01J Multitronic transmission 6 or 7 speed that Audi has used in many of its A4, A5 and A6 cars since 1999. 01J is a CVT (constant variable transmission) gearbox, meaning that instead of a gear mess or a stack of clutches, the 01J is primarily driven by a large chain around two sets of cones. These cones allow transmission to change the ratio of transmissions, simply the cones are up or down, forcing the chain in or out and thus changing the ratio at which it rotates. This improves efficiency and smoother driving. It's This. nightmare transmission. The Audi 01J Multitron gearbox is excellent to drive up when working properly, but riddled with potential malfunctions. Drivers of 01J gear are known to experience a juddering sensation that is usually caused by wear in the front of the assembly clutch and/or wear in what is called an entrainment pump. The clutch build can be changed relatively easily (although the transmission should come out), but the hook pump will require a full strip down transmission. In addition to this, all sorts of fault shifts can be traced back to the mechatronic unit- the computer that controls the transmission. These blocks would seem to go malfunctioning without warning, and must either be repaired by a specialist or replaced completely. Finally, and most alarming, 01J may suffer from a complete disk loss that is caused by a shaft attached to one of the cones snapping clean in two. When this happens, the entire cone needs to be replaced, at least, but this malfunction almost always results in a damaged chain, which in turn damages another cone. When both the cone and the chain fail, it is usually cheaper to try to find a replacement used transmission in full than to try to repair the original. So here you are, three very common transmissions with sadly common flaws. It is worth noting that these transmissions are common for a reason; when they work, they work well, and the fact that I've seen so many of them on my bench can be as much to do with their prevalence on the road as it is due to their weaknesses. The problem with the 5-speed automatic transmission (722.6) from Mercedes-Benz: the oil dipstyk for the transmission is not supplied during production. Things to consider oil dipsticks provided by spare parts suppliers like febi offer remedies for this. However, there are a number of things to consider: the vehicle should be positioned horizontally on wheels. The refueling tube is located in the engine compartment. The final cap of the refueling tube is protected from accidental opening. Before measuring the plate of the locked pin should be broken with the proper tool (Figure 1). The lock pin can now be removed and the end of the lid is relaxed. When filling with oil, make sure to have about 5 liters initially during the oil change before the engine starts. The engine should be and run for a short time while parked (in gear P). Then briefly shift through the gears several times during the idling. Then move back to the park position (transfer P). The level of oil transmissions in cold condition should be between the minimum and maximum measuring range of 25 oC (see Figure 2). If necessary, the oil level should be adjusted and measured again. When dressing, the remaining oil should be poured. WARNING: When checking the oil level, the dipstick should be inserted into the tube filling the entire road to the end of the point. Since the 5-speed automatic transmission is used in different Mercedes-Benz models, the refueling tube has different lengths. Therefore, it is possible that part of the rod sticks out of the tube, even though the bottom of the transmission has already been reached. Dipstick should be removed after measuring the oil level. The seal cover can be provided with a new locking pin (also available from many replacement part suppliers). The 5G-Tronic abstract (model W5A 330 and W5A 580 Type 722.6) is an electronically shifted 5-speed automatic transmission with lock converter torque (usually in transmissions 3, 4 and 5) and 2-speed for reverse. In all applications, this transmission is identified as the new Generation One automatic transmission, or NAG1. It replaced the old 4G-Tronic 4-speed transmission and its 5-speed derivative, and was replaced by a much more complex and cost-effective 7-speed Mercedes Benz 7G-Tronic (W7A 700 and 722.9) with 11 main components introduced in 2003. Due to the high torque capacity (up to 1000 Nm) and lower cost, it is still retained for turbocharged V12 engines, four-cylinder applications and commercial vehicles for almost a decade. It is still being built for niche applications (e.g. Sprinter with petrol/CNG M111 engine, , etc.). The specifications of the Basic Concept Technical and Economic Progress are reflected in 5 forward transmissions from 9 major compared to 5 forward gears from the 11 main components in the direct predecessor. It is fully electronically controlled and is equipped with a torque converter lock. Gear Gear Gear Ratios and Planetary Gearset Ratios: Teeth Count Total Avg. This is designed to reduce wheelspin on icy surfaces. With Jaguar XJR apps the switch is flagged as Sport. In normal driving mode, the gearbox starts on the 2nd gear, and will only deal with the 1st gear when triggered by a switch. Speedshift (2001-) Speedshift is a performance feature set for Mercedes-Benz transmissions that includes manual mode and active downshifting. When turning at high speed, the transmission supports the same transmission above a certain level of lateral acceleration. It can also automatically downshift before overtaking. It was first used in 2001 by Mercedes-Benz C 32 AMG and 2001 Mercedes- Benz SLK 32 AMG. AMG Speedshift (2002-) Version with mechanical lock converter torque with first gear and steering switch.
