MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

50% of Time: Communications Strategy and Implementation

 Manages all print and electronic communications sent out to constituent base including, but not limited to: Press Releases, Be On the Look Out Communications, Fans of the Short North e-marketing newsletter, Business-to-Business forums, and all other dedicated letters to district constituents.

 Manages all social media communications sent out to the Short North constituent base including, but not limited to: Short North Arts District and all other Short North Alliance managed Facebook Pages, Short North Arts District and all other Short North Alliance managed Twitter accounts, YouTube, Instagram, Pintrest and other social media platforms.

 Manages all Short North Alliance owned websites including, but not limited to: developing news stories, maintaining business profiles, and generating and editing all content for visitors.

 Supports the Executive Director with ongoing communications with local government officials, the media, and all neighboring communities and districts, including, but not limited to: , , , , the University District, the , the , the Convention Center, and Downtown Columbus.

25% of Time: Marketing Strategy and Implementation

 Works with the Executive Director and the Short North Alliance marketing committee to maintain and evolve the District Brand through marketing campaigns and key messaging.

 Designs and manages development of district electronic and print marketing materials such as pocket maps, way-finding kiosks and other promotional collateral.

 Develops and maintains the Short North Alliance Brand and Style Guidelines.

 Works with the Events & Special Projects Coordinator to co-facilitate district-wide Promotional Events such as the annual winter and summer sales.

 Works with the Visitor Relations Coordinator to develop tourism marketing initiatives.

25% of Time: Project Management

 Manages the Short North Alliance membership program, the Friends of the Short North, which includes: recruiting members, developing & fulfilling benefits, and managing renewals.

 Hires, supervises, and develops projects for the Short North Alliance Public Relations Interns.

 Assists Executive Director on a variety of fund-raising and resource generating campaigns.

 Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field.  3 year’s work experience in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.  Strong understanding of third-party e-marketing systems such as Constant Contact or related programs.  Experience with basic HTML programming and web editing platforms.  Extremely strong knowledge of social media marketing with proven results.  Proficient in the following: MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Docs.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS  Strong understanding of arts, cultural, and neighborhood-based non-profits.  History of relationships with the greater Columbus community and Short North groups.  Comfortable communicating with and engaging an extremely broad mix of constituents.  Experience in marketing and/or following brand guidelines.  Proven ability to work collaboratively and diplomatically.  Strong organizational, project management, communication, and public speaking skills.  Highly motivated, self-starter, adept at multitasking and working toward deadlines.  Intermediate to advanced graphic design experience.
