  • – 2015 – MINNESOTA LEGISLATIVE SCORECARD CLEAN WATER ACTION’S 2015 Minnesota Legislative Scorecard
    – 2015 – MINNESOTA LEGISLATIVE SCORECARD CLEAN WATER ACTION’S 2015 Minnesota Legislative Scorecard Clean Water Action’s goal is to protect and restore our lakes, rivers and streams now and for future generations. We work to protect Minnesota’s health and water by making systemic change. We educate the public, develop grassroots citizen leaders and mobilize our members to get involved in policy decisions. This is a comprehensive scorecard for the 2015 legislative session and the special session that was held in June. Clean Water Action’s Legislative Scorecard provides a permanent record that scores every Minnesota state legislator on their votes that affect the issues of clean, renewable energy, water quality, and toxics in our environment. These were the primary areas of focus for Clean Water Action this year. To find out who your legislators are, visit http://www.gis.leg.mn/OpenLayers/districts/ HOW LEGISLATORS WERE SCORED: The Clean Water Action Legislative Scorecard provides objective, factual information about the environmental + = A pro-environment vote voting records of members of the Minnesota Legislature. – = An anti-environment vote The votes included in this scorecard took place during the 2015 legislative session and focus heavily, although not NA = The legislator did not vote exclusively, on votes that would seriously affect the issues of clean, renewable energy, water quality, and toxics in our environment. The votes that are included are recorded votes in which the entire body of either the Senate or House, had the opportunity to participate. • February 9, 2021 the Honorable Mike Freiberg the Honorable Glenn
Legal Services Advocacy Project February 9, 2021 The Honorable Mike Freiberg The Honorable Glenn Gruenhagen Chair, Preventive Health Policy Division Republican Lead, Preventive Health Policy Division Minnesota House of Representatives Minnesota House of Representatives 381 State Office Building 287 State Office Building St. Paul, MN 55155 St. Paul, MN 55155 The Honorable Robert Bierman Vice Chair, Preventive Health Policy Division Minnesota House of Representatives 579 State Office Building St. Paul, MN 55155 Re: HF 521 Dear Chair Freiberg, Vice Chair Bierman, Lead Gruenhagen, and Members of the Committee: The Legal Services Advocacy Project (LSAP) LSAP writes to express its strong support for HF 521, which extends Medicaid coverage from 60 days to 365 days postpartum. LSAP provides legislative and administrative policy advocacy on behalf of Legal Aid, which provides free civil legal services, statewide, for low-income clients, all elder Minnesotans, and all Minnesotans with disabilities. HF 521 would offer significant help to the mothers and families Legal Aid represents. The maternal mortality rate is higher in the US than other developed countries. Also, during the COVID-19 pandemic the gaps in coverage and affordability issues have negatively impacted BIPOC communities who are disproportionately suffering from the impact of the virus. In particular, the expansion of eligibility for Medicaid would allow new mothers to remain eligible for additional postpartum care during a time when they are at risk for complications from the pregnancy and childbirth. The loss of Medicaid eligibility during this critical time results in many women becoming uninsured and unable to access critical health care services. We thank Rep.

EdAllies Legislative Scorecard Educational Excellence & Equity at the Capitol 2017–2018 TABLE OF CONTENTS EdAllies Legislative Scorecard Educational Excellence and Equity at the Capitol 2017-2018 Introduction 2 What’s in the Scorecard 3 Issues Diverse & Effective Educators 4 School Discipline 11 Data & Transparency 14 Welcoming & Accessible Schools 18 Parent Choice 22 Final Votes: The Omnibus Bills 26 Vote Tables House 29 Senate 40 EdAllies Legislative Scorecard 2017–2018 1 INTRODUCTION Dear partners, At EdAllies, we work to ensure that every young Minnesotan has access to a rigorous and engaging education—work we simply cannot do without empowered, informed advocates. Yet, too often, Minnesota’s confusing policymaking process makes it hard to understand what’s happening with education policy change at the Capitol. Given our state’s urgent need to address opportunity and achievement gaps, this is unacceptable. To accomplish more for Minnesota students, we need greater transparency around policy progress and setbacks. We made this legislative scorecard to help you understand education efforts over the last two years, also known as the legislative biennium. We recap key policies that legislators introduced, our position, and, when possible, the votes. Though our policymakers didn’t make as much progress for Minnesota students as we hoped during the 90th biennium, they made some notable changes. For example, our legislators reached across the aisle to: • open Minnesota’s doors to great out-of-state and alternatively prepared educators; • support new programs to recruit and retain teachers of color; • advance trailblazing legislation to disaggregate student achievement data, and more. Of course, there’s much more work to do to set up all Minnesota students for success.
