Neither team has been able to win back-to-back meetings since the Seminoles did it in ’05 and ‘06. Miami has won the last two meetings at Doak Campbell Stadium and are 4-1 in the past decade. A CANES WIN OVER THE SEMINOLES WOULD... Give the Hurricanes their third consecutive victory at Doak Campbell Stadium. Give the Hurricanes a 4-3 Atlantic Coast Conference record. Be Miami’s second straight Atlantic Coast Conference victory. Give Al Golden his first victory over Florida State. The COACHES Al Golden is in his first year as Miami’s head coach and owns an overall record of 31-38. Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher sports a career record of 16-7 in his second season leading the Seminoles. Scouting THE SEMINOLES Florida State is on a roll coming off of four consecutive victories, outscoring their opponents 154-39 in the process. The Seminoles possess one of the nation’s most potent defenses, ranking 4th nationally in total defense (268 yards/gm), and 3rd nationally in rush defense, allowing a scant 78.89 yards/gm on the ground. Look for the Seminoles to rely heavily on the pass, redshirt junior quarterback EJ Manuel has tossed for 1,956 yards for 14 scores with an efficiency rating of 158.0. The Florida State receiving corps has four different receivers with 20 or more receptions with Miami-native junior Rodney Smith leading the way with 486 yards on 28 catches and three touchdowns. Freshman running back Devonta Freeman has racked up 376 yards on the ground, adding six touchdowns on just 70 carries while splitting carries with quarterback EJ Manuel. Linebacker Nigel Bradham and cornerback Mike Harris with 52 and 48 takedowns, respectively will lead Florida State’s top-10 senior-heavy defense. The tandem has 12 tackles for loss and three sacks between them. Up NEXT... The Canes continue their road trip, heading across the Sunshine State to take on the USF Bulls (11/19) before heading home to Sun Life Stadium for their final regular season game against the Golden Eagles of Boston College (11/25). Harris AND HORN NAMED ACC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK Jacory Harris became the first Hurricane in 2011-12 to win ACC Offensive Back of the Week for his stand- out showing in a 49-14 win against the Blue Devils. Harris, who completed 14-of-20 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns, posted his fifth 200-yard game of the season Saturday. Harris became only the second quarterback in program history to throw for over 8,000 career yards (Ken Dorsey).

Chapter 1 – 1902-1949 1902 Rose Bowl MICHIGAN 49 STANFORD 0 Originally titled the "Tournament East–West football game," what is now known as the Rose Bowl Game was first played on January 1, 1902, at Tournament Park in Pasadena, California, starting the tradition of New Year's Day bowl games. The inaugural game featured Fielding H. Yost's dominating 1901 Michigan Wolverines football team, representing the East, who crushed a 3–1–2 team from Stanford University, representing the West, by a score of 49–0 after Stanford captain Ralph Fisher requested to quit with eight minutes remaining. Michigan finished the season 11–0 and was considered a national champion. Yost had been Stanford's coach the previous year. Organization of the game - The Tournament of Roses Parade began in 1890 as a New Year's Day tradition in the City of Pasadena. The city boostersLLC were exploring a way to bring in tourism and money to the area. The Tournament of Roses Association president, James Wagner, guaranteed $3,500 to cover the expenses of bringing the football teams of the University of Michigan and Stanford University to Pasadena to play. The admission price was 50 cents to $1 to see the game. An additional $1 would be charged to admit a family's horse and buggy to the grounds. The game was played in Tournament Park, where temporary stands were built. Before the Rose Bowl stadium was built for the 1923 Rose Bowl, games were played in Pasadena's Tournament Park, approximately three miles southeast of the current stadium.
