By The Chronicle Pe Ell residents are advised to boil their drinking water until water samples can be tested be- cause contaminants could have entered the water system after the main water line broke on Friday. State Health Department spokesperson Kate Lynch said the water samples were tested Monday and the results should be released this afternoon. Until then, the state health department advises residents to use boiled water or purchased bottled water for drinking, brushing teeth, dishwashing, preparing food, and making ice. Water should be boiled - ly for one minute and allowed to cool before use. If the water samples come back contaminated Tuesday af- ternoon, Carolyn Cox, from the state office of drinking water, said all water lines will be flushed out. Chlorine may be added and new samples will be taken. If the samples come back clean, Cox said the drinking wa- ter advisory will be lifted. Check chronline.com for updates. Pe Ell lost water pressure for about two hours on Friday after a Sterling Breen Crushing con- struction crew broke the main water line during construction of a new water line. The pressure loss affected most of the town’s 1,300 residents. Pe Ell Mayor Spencer Nichols said nobody in town has report- ed an illness from the potentially contaminated water. Voice of the People The Case of the Missing Bell

If the Riverside Motel property in Centralia is sold to a new owner, what would you like to see built on the lot off Harrison Avenue?

“An aquatic park.”

Steven Stacy Rochester, Centralia College student

“I would like somewhere to take Photograph submitted by Judy Wallace Kalich, Chehalis my kids, like a park.” The Toledo High School 50-year reunion loat took part in the Toledo Cheese Days parade July 14. It was aimed at reviving the Toledo-Winlock High School rivalry. Judy Wallace Kalich, who submitted this photo, said that in earlier years Toledo kids would occasionally visit Winlock and graiti their city egg. In 1961, Kalich said, Winlock Jessica Cheever stole a good-sized victory bell of the Toledo High School grounds. After the Toledo-Winlock “Battle of the Cowlitz” 7-7 tie in the last football game of that year, Winlock Chehalis, unemployed paraded Toledo’s bell out on their ield. The bell never has been seen since, Kalich said. Hence, the question in the photo — “Where’s Our Bell!?” To submit your photograph, e-mail [email protected] or send mail to Voices, The Chronicle, 321 N. Pearl St., Centralia, WA 98531.
