He holds a Masters Degree in Social sciences, and currently advanced in his PhD Program at the University of Nairobi. He is a SMU Manager at the Students Welfare Authority (SWA) He is also a Chairman of Kenya National Archives. Besides teaching at the University of Nairobi for more than 15 years, Isaac Were has wide experiences in policy development conflict and resolution management, curriculum development, capacity building, resource mobilization, gender mainstreaming and development of training manuals. He has represented University of Nairobi in various capacities.

He has a profound ability to work with the stakeholders at all levels and respects diversities. He is an effective communicator, gender-responsive, a team player who is innovative, self motivated and result oriented. He is experienced in rights issues, lobbying and advocacy, training in monitoring and evaluation, gender issues and community mobilization. He has been involved in various training for Government, (Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Children, Gender and Social Services Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Land and Settlement, Ministry of National Heritage and Culture among others).
