His best progeny include Eagle Mountain, Mount Nelson and Society Rock. !is colt’s dam, Izzy Lou, by Spinning World, has produced one winner from one runner to date, in the shape of Juan Alonso, a full-brother to our colt, who Makfi / High colt Lite won twice as a two-year-old before being sold to Hong Kong for £115,000. Izzy Lou was placed twice at three and is the half-sister to the high-class two-year- old Missit, who has won in the UK, Canada and the USA and took the Group Two Providencia Stakes at Santa Anita, having been runner-up in the Rockfel as a juvenile in the UK for Mick Channon. Izzy Lou is also a half-sister to the useful Rockalong (also by Rock of Gibraltar), a three-time winner for Luca Cumani. Luke Lillingston bought this colt and commented: “!is colt is an all bay, attractive and chunky, rather in the same mould as his famous father Rock of Gibraltar. His only sibling the full brother Juan Alonso won twice for team Hannon as a two-year-old last year before being sold abroad for £115,000 at the end of last season. !ere are two other successful Rock of Gibraltar runners in this family, most notably the multiple group winning Gibraltar Blue and also the 95 rated Rockalong who sold for £160,000 last year to race in Australia. Andrew Balding was delighted when he heard he would train him as he has great luck with other progeny of ‘!e Rock’. He has only trained three by the sire to date (Signposted, Soviet Rock and Nabatean) and they have all been highly-rated. !ere is good reason to be hopeful that this colt can be another one.” !is colt will be trained by Andrew Balding and will be a 16 Share Partnership @ £6,855 per share with the "rst payment due on signing of £4,555 and the balance of £2,300 due by 31st March 2015. !e cost of a share includes all charges, including management charges, through to the end of October 2015. • Heart Leads Redvers to Sea the Stars Colt
WEDNESDAY, 23 OCTOBER 2019 SMULLEN: PROMOTION OF THE SPORT IS KEY HEART LEADS REDVERS TO By Pat Smullen SEA THE STARS COLT Oisin Murphy didn't end up with a big winner on Saturday but he's had a big year and that is the important thing. On Saturday I was thinking back to the work rate he has put in this year. He has ridden all over, travelling by plane, by helicopter, however he could get there to ride horses at two different meetings in a day, wherever they may be. His work ethic is something that needs to be applauded--that's what you need to do to be champion jockey. Oisin is not only an excellent rider but he is great for the game. He promotes our industry extremely well and I hope he does so for many years to come. I must admit, earlier in the year I was hoping that Danny Tudhope would be able to pull it off as the work that Danny has to put in to maintain his weight is phenomenal, and nobody sees that behind the scenes, but it wasn't to be. TUESDAY, 26 JUNE 2018 There was never going to be any difficulty in their first season, PEDIGREE INSIGHTS: SEA THE when Sea The Stars was priced at i85,000 and Frankel at ,125,000 and they respectively covered 136 and 131 mares. The STARS & CRYSTAL OCEAN problem is that there isn't an endless supply of breeders prepared to invest heavily in untried but high-priced stallions and events showed that not even Sea The Stars and Frankel were immune to the fluctuating demand that affects so many young stallions in their first four seasons. It now seems hard to believe that Sea The Stars's totals in those first four years were 136, 83, 138 and 82 mares. Frankel's figures were 131, 128, 104 and 105. Perhaps Frankel's arrival as a stallion in 2013 was partly to blame for Sea The Stars's book falling to 82 mares, but their main problem was that these unproven horses were competing against stallions whose ability to sire top performers had been proven time after time.
