  • Heart Leads Redvers to Sea the Stars Colt
WEDNESDAY, 23 OCTOBER 2019 SMULLEN: PROMOTION OF THE SPORT IS KEY HEART LEADS REDVERS TO By Pat Smullen SEA THE STARS COLT Oisin Murphy didn't end up with a big winner on Saturday but he's had a big year and that is the important thing. On Saturday I was thinking back to the work rate he has put in this year. He has ridden all over, travelling by plane, by helicopter, however he could get there to ride horses at two different meetings in a day, wherever they may be. His work ethic is something that needs to be applauded--that's what you need to do to be champion jockey. Oisin is not only an excellent rider but he is great for the game. He promotes our industry extremely well and I hope he does so for many years to come. I must admit, earlier in the year I was hoping that Danny Tudhope would be able to pull it off as the work that Danny has to put in to maintain his weight is phenomenal, and nobody sees that behind the scenes, but it wasn't to be. • Sea the Stars & Crystal Ocean
TUESDAY, 26 JUNE 2018 There was never going to be any difficulty in their first season, PEDIGREE INSIGHTS: SEA THE when Sea The Stars was priced at i85,000 and Frankel at ,125,000 and they respectively covered 136 and 131 mares. The STARS & CRYSTAL OCEAN problem is that there isn't an endless supply of breeders prepared to invest heavily in untried but high-priced stallions and events showed that not even Sea The Stars and Frankel were immune to the fluctuating demand that affects so many young stallions in their first four seasons. It now seems hard to believe that Sea The Stars's totals in those first four years were 136, 83, 138 and 82 mares. Frankel's figures were 131, 128, 104 and 105. Perhaps Frankel's arrival as a stallion in 2013 was partly to blame for Sea The Stars's book falling to 82 mares, but their main problem was that these unproven horses were competing against stallions whose ability to sire top performers had been proven time after time. Last term=s G1 Champion S. runner-up had also annexed this term=s G3 Prix Exbury and G2 Prix d=Harcourt in an unbeaten start to the campaign and was sent postward as the heavily supported 3-10 favourite to continue that trend. Skalleti adopted his usual hold-up tactics from the break and settled last of the six nominees as last term=s G3 Preis der Deutschen Einheit victrix Tabera (GB) (Gleneagles {Ire}) established a clear lead by halfway.
