Darley House is on a private road just off Dale Road South (the A6), called Darley Lodge Drive (also, rather confusingly, with a sign saying Oakwood Drive!).

BY CAR: From the South on the M1: • Exit at Junction 28 and take the A38 westbound, which is the first exit off the slip road roundabout. • Turn off the A38 onto the A615 to Matlock and , which then leads you to the A6. • Keep on going on the A6 through Matlock town centre (avoid ) and head out towards .

Darley House is just off the A6 in Darley Dale: • Still on the A6, now called Dale Road South, after a couple of miles you will see the Whitworth Hospital on your right hand side. You are now about half a mile away. • The next road on the right is Old Hackney Lane and you will see a body repair garage (no pumps) called Milner Off Road on the corner. • Take the next (private) road on your right, called Darley Lodge Drive (also with a sign saying Oakwood Drive). At first sight it looks like a recess or a lay-by. It’s quite a tight turn in from this direction, and Darley House is the first drive on the right hand side with a gravel drive and a high wall in front, with gateway through to the front door. • If you miss the turn and find you have either Grove Road or then St Elphin’s Retirement Apartments with the Orangery Restaurant on the right, use either of these to turn round in and approach Darley Lodge Drive from the other side.

From the North on the M1: • Either exit at Junction 28 and follow the directions above, or take the earlier exit at Junction 29 and come through Chesterfield on the B619 and then take the B632 Matlock Road to Darley Dale. This is a very scenic and high route, which can be impassable in snow. This brings you on to the A6 at Two Dales. • Turn left onto the A6 towards Matlock. Look out for the rather grand St Elphins Retirement Apartments/Orangery Restaurant (a converted old school) on your left - you are close. Drive past Grove Road on the left, and turn next left into Darley Lodge Drive (also signed as Oakwood Drive) with a lodge house on the corner. • Darley House is the first drive on the right hand side with a gravel drive and a high wall in front.

From (40 mins): • Take the A38 to Alfreton and then take the B615 to Matlock and Alfreton, and follow the directions from the A6 to the house as above. • Alternatively you can take the A6 and follow directions above to find the house once in Darley Dale. This is scenic but slower route and can get very congested through Matlock Bath at weekends and during holidays.

From Bakewell (12 mins): • Take the A6 towards Matlock. Look out for the rather grand St Elphins Retirement Apartments/Orangery Restaurant (a converted old school) on your left - you are close. • Drive past Grove Road on the left, and turn next left into Darley Lodge Drive (also signed as Oakwood Drive) with a lodge house on the corner. • Darley House is the first drive on the right hand side with a gravel drive and a high wall in front.

From Ashbourne (35 mins): • Take the A515, and then the B5056 to Winster, and then the B5057 to Darley Bridge. • This brings you to the A6 where you turn right to Matlock and follow the directions as if coming from Bakewell. • Alternatively, you can take the B5035 to Cromford and then go through Matlock Bath and Matlock. Then follow the end directions as if coming from the M1.
