Bunche Center for African American Studies at UCLA has supported multidisciplinary research that expands our knowledge about the history, lifestyles, and sociocultural systems of people of African descent, and investigates problems that have bearing on their psychological, social, and economic well-being. As a unit of UCLA’s Institute for American Cultures, the Bunche Center has strong affilia- tions and ongoing collaborations with UCLA’s Chicano Studies Research Center, Asian American Studies Center, American Indian Studies Center, and the Center for the Study of Women. The Bunche Center’s location in Los Angeles, the entertainment capital of the world, pro- vides unrivaled access to Hollywood’s leaders and creative talent. Its position as an inter- disciplinary “think tank” allows center researchers to leverage the strengths of UCLA the campus’s renowned faculty, outstanding humanities and social science divisions, and state-of-the-art research libraries with the center’s own unique assets as the West Coast’s premier research institute on African American Studies. FILMNATION ENTERTAINMENT TO LAUNCH INTERNATIONAL SALES FOR ACTION COMEDY AMERICAN ULTRA AT AFM JESSE EISENBERG AND KRISTEN STEWART TO STAR New York – Monday, November 4, 2013 – FilmNation Entertainment announced today that they will handle international sales for all territories, including Canada, for PROJECT X director Nima Nourizadeh’s AMERICAN ULTRA. Sales will begin at the upcoming American Film Market in Santa Monica. Academy Award nominee Jesse Eisenberg (NOW YOU SEE ME, THE SOCIAL NETWORK) and Kristen Stewart (TWILIGHT franchise, SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN) will star in the action comedy, written by Max Landis (CHRONICLE). The film is a Likely Story and Circle of Confusion production. It is being produced by Anthony Bregman for Likely Story, and by David Alpert and Britton Rizzio for Circle of Confusion. AMERICAN ULTRA is about an unmotivated stoner named Mike (Eisenberg), who lives with his girlfriend Phoebe (Stewart), in a small, sleepy town. One night, their lives take an unexpected turn when Mike's past comes back to haunt him, and he becomes the target of a government operation set to wipe him out. 2015 FEATURE FILM STUDY ABOUT THIS REPORT For the last three years, FilmL.A. Research has endeavored to track the movies released in 2013, 2014 and now 2015 to determine where they were filmed, why they filmed in the locations they did and how much was spent to produce them. The 2015 Feature Film Production Study follows the same methodology and tracks the feature films released theatrically within the U.S.1 during the 2015 calendar year. Where possible, FilmL.A. tracks primary and secondary filming locations, primary and secondary locations for postproduction/visual effects (VFX) work, production spending and jobs. Total box-office revenues reached a record high in 2015, with global box office ticket sales hitting $38 billion. For the third 6255 W.
