Tämän opinnäytteen tavoitteena oli selvittää mistä elementeistä rockin visuaaliset tyylit rakentuvat 2000-luvulla ja ovatko tyylit enää jaettavissa kategorioihin. Selvitettävänä oli myös mistä asioista rockin visuaalisuudessa nykyään otetaan vaikutteita. Teoriaosuutta rakennettiin pohjautuen kirjallisiin lähteisiin sekä kuvamateriaalien ja rockpukeutumisen tarkkailuun. Empiirisen aineiston keruu toteutettiin analysoimalla Red Hot Chili Peppersien uusi musiikkivideo soveltaen Jakobsonin semioottista teoriaa sekä haastattelemalla kuutta iältään 20–24 -vuotiasta rockkulttuurin jäsentä rockelämäntapansa näkymisestä tyylissä. Lisäksi symboliikasta haastateltiin sähköpostitse tatuointitaiteilijaa. Tutkimus oli tyyliltään kvalitatiivinen ja haastattelut toteutettiin puolistrukturoituina teemahaastatteluina. Elsie Azzinaro was born in 1921 in New York City. Her father was Italian, so during the brim of the war in 1939, at age of 18, her parents returned their family to Italy. During this time as the war was beginning, Elsie and her fa­ ther were taken away, her mother got to stay because she was a citizen of Italy. Her father and her were separat­ ed and taken to different camps.
