Paul Baloche wrote “Open the Eyes of My Heart” based upon a letter to the Ephesian church written by the Apostle Paul. Paul Baloche was born on June 4, 1962, and grew up in a French Catholic family in Maple Shade Township, New Jersey. He learned to play guitar during his junior-high-school years. At this impressionable age, his interest in music deepened after being introduced to the Beatles’ work. After high school, he performed in and around the southern New Jersey club circuit, gradually graduating into Philadelphia and Atlantic City clubs. During this time, he met his wife Rita, a country & western singer. Both had born- again experiences which lead to Paul becoming an Christian music artist, worship leader, and singer-songwriter. Paul composes on piano and acoustic guitar, favoring guitar when leading worship. Rita Baloche, is also a Christian songwriter.
