2020,18th Sunday of the Year For newsletters, notices, information from parish groups, history, links to schools, other catholic organisations and publications. Dunkeld Diocesan website: https://www.dunkelddiocese.co.uk/ Parish Priest: Fr. Mike Freyne MHM email: [email protected] Baingle Brae, Tullibody. FK10 2SG Tel: 01259 213274 : At all masses there will be ushers, please follow their instructions at all times. At no time will we exceed the permitted number of people allowed in the church even if this means turning people away. People’s health and safety comes first and we have an enormous social responsibility. You must sanitise your hands as you enter and leave the church and must wear a face mask. Please follow the one way system. You will be asked to leave your name and contact number in case you need to be traced. (It may make things quicker if you brought this on a piece of paper as everyone has to sanitise their hands and be ushered to a seat ) Please come very, very early for mass! As the numbers attending Sunday and vigil masses are currently manageable we do not see any problems with numbers. However if we see a big rise in numbers and have to refuse entry we will need to re-assess this and may need to introduce a formal booking system for weekend masses... Mike’s Health The radio therapy treatment that Fr. Mike received was a wonderful success as the cancer of his vocal cords was completely treated. Just now he is suffering the after effect of the radiation therapy and not the cancer. This could go on for many months and perhaps some of the symptoms persist forever. Because his saliva glans have not com- pletely recovered he experiences a terrible dry throat and any speck of dust, food caught in his still very scarred and sensitive throat causes his throat to react with terrible bouts of coughing. Please note this is not the corona- virus virus, nor the flu. It is totally non-infectious and just a spontaneous throat reaction which he has no control over. He has no pain but suffers this mostly at night and normally only manages a few hours of rest. Please do not run away and just forgive him! For more information on the ongoing work of Fr. We should give them our last shirt and our last piece of bread.” Maria Skobtsova was born in 1891 in Riga. After being involved with revolutionary politics she fled Russia as a refugee settling in Paris. Living amongst other refugees caused her to reflect on her life, and the call to follow Jesus. Mother Maria established a house of hospitality where all would be welcome. After Paris fell to the Nazis in 1940 she continued the work of welcome, taking in many fleeing from the Nazis, forging baptism certifi- cates to help Jews escape persecution, and smuggling children from Nazi detention. She was detained and sent to Ravensbrück concentration camp where she was executed on Easter Saturday 1945 in the gas chamber. She was glorified (canonised) in the Orthodox Church on 1 May 2004. One of those present was Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger, Archbishop of Paris who included St. Maria in the calendar of the Catholic Church in France. It is likely she is the only post-Schism saint included in both the Orthodox and Catholic church calendars. Maria Skobtsova Catholic Worker House in Calais, France continues her spirit of welcome and service to displaced people seeking safety. Remember that for the time being the Sunday Mass obligation does not exist, there are alternatives. We will also have morning mass on Mon, Wed, Thurs & Saturday mornings at 9.30am which at least gives parishioners the opportunity to attend a “Live” mass in the Church, at some time. We will also continue with our live broadcast YouTube mass at 11.30 each Sunday morning. THIS MAY BE THE “NEW NORMAL” FOR SOME CONSDERABLE TIME As general principles we suggest the following for you to consider: Those who are over seventy years of age or “shielding” because of their general health should think carefully about the appropriateness of attending Mass. Perhaps consider coming to a weekday rather than Sunday Mass which may be quieter. Join us for our 11.30 Sunday Mass online on YouTube which will continue to be available on Sunday morning. Consider visiting the church for private prayer rather than attending Mass. Parish Offerings - 26th July ‘20. Gift Aided = £503.00 Non Gift Aided = £154.10 Total = £657.10 .
