DENVER SALON & PRIVATE CONCERT ~ MAY 18, 2017 Dear friend, It is our pleasure to invite you to join PathNorth in Denver on May 18 for a special evening at the Denver Performing Arts Complex for a discussion of what matters most. In addition to great food and wine, PathNorth will host Grammy nominated singer, Isaac Slade and his wife Anna for a unique conversation about the challenges attendant with success. Isaac is lead singer of the Fray who has had multiple albums go platinum and been on Billboard's Top 100 two years in a row. He and his wife will perform a special private concert for us prior to the discussion. We will also host the Governor of Colorado, John Hickenlooper, who will be joining the Slades to discuss his own story and answer questions related to success and its challenges. PathNorth's aim is to 'broaden the definition of success' for CEOs and business- owners frequently dealing with the unintended consequences of success. Warmly, Doug Holladay DENVER SALON & PRIVATE CONCERT ~ MAY 18, 2017 GOVERNOR JOHN HICKENLOOPER John Hickenlooper is a former geologist and entrepreneur, who recently added “author” to his resume with the publication of his forthcoming memoir, The Opposite of Woe: My Life in Beer and Politics. He champions innovation, collaboration and efficiency. When he was inaugurated Governor of Colorado in 2011, having run on his history of collaboration for community good, he became the first Denver mayor to be elected governor in 150 years. He also became the first geologist to become a governor in the history of the nation, and the first brewer since Sam Adams in 1792. Again, he has recruited talent from all quarters, and is redefining the relationship between a state government and its business and civic communities. Since taking office in 2011, the Governor and his team have endeavored to make Colorado the most pro‐business state, with the highest environmental and ethical standards. He is a great believer that governors, far more than Congress, can revive American democracy. ISAAC SLADE Isaac is an American musician and the lead vocalist, main songwriter, pianist and co-founder of Denver-based rock band The Fray. He started singing when he was 8 years old, began to play piano at 11, and wrote his first song when he was 16. Slade joined Ember, a band that consisted of Slade and his future band-mates Dave Welsh and Ben Wysocki. The band soon dissolved, and later, in the spring of 1999, Slade ran into former schoolmate and vocalist/guitarist Joe King in a record store. The two began regular jam sessions, which led to writing songs. They later added Slade's younger brother, Caleb, on bass and Zach Johnson on drums. Dave Welsh and Ben Wysocki re-joined Slade and King, to form the Fray. They soon released Movement EP, and in 2003, they released Reason EP to some local critical acclaim, particularly by Denver's Westword alternative newsweekly. Despite these reviews, the band struggled to launch a single. Denver radio station KTCL rejected eight of their songs before the band decided to submit "Cable Car". The song found airplay on a KTCL radio show highlighting local bands and the radio station received a large number of requests for it soon thereafter. The band changed the name of the song to "Over My Head (Cable Car)", and by the end of 2005, it had become KTCL's most played song of the year. Isaac married his wife Anna in 2006 and welcomed their first child into the world in 2014. .
