They all share corner sites with the public bar occupying the angle and surrounded by an L-shaped corridor. All too have beautiful tiled dadoes in their corridors dating from Edwardian remodelling schemes (as seen in our picture). A further similarity is the way the corridor works to provide a drinking area. • Liverpool Development Update
LIVERPOOL DEVELOPMENT UPDATE November 2016 Welcome Welcome to the latest edition of Liverpool Development Update. When I became Mayor of the city in 2012, I said that Liverpool’s best days were ahead of it. If you consider the levels of investment being seen across the city today in 2016, my prediction is now ringing true. Since the start of 2012, we have seen over £3.8 billion worth of investment which has brought new businesses, new homes, new schools, and new and improved community and health facilities to Liverpool. We have seen the creation of nearly 15,000 job spaces, many of which will be filled with new jobs to the city. We have also created thousands more construction jobs. There is more good news. Several major new schemes are now in delivery mode. I am pleased to see rapid progress on Derwent’s Liverpool Shopping Park at Edge Lane, whilst Project Jennifer is now well underway with construction about to commence on its new Sainsburys and B&M stores. In addition, Neptune Developments have started work on the Lime Street Gateway project, and I can also report that work is underway on the first phase of the Welsh Streets scheme that will now see many of the traditional terraces converted to larger family homes. Meanwhile, some of the new schemes have started under the Strategic Housing Delivery Partnership which will build a further 1,500 new homes and refurbish another 1,000 existing ones. Plans for new schemes continue to be announced. The Knowledge Quarter is to be expanded with a new £1billion campus specialising in FRONT COVER: research establishments, whilst we are now also seeking to expand the Commercial Office District with new Grade A office space at Pall Mall which this city so vitally needs.

  • Head's Weekly Newsletter
Head’s Weekly Newsletter Issue 27, 5 April 2019 Mrs Ania Hildrey, Headteacher, [email protected] Dear Students, Families, Colleagues and Friends, Welcome to the last issue of this term’s Head’s Weekly Newsletter. As we end this term, we begin Easter Holidays. Easter, whilst not celebrated as ostentatiously as Christmas, is in fact, the most important festival in Christianity. According to the Bible, Jesus' death was a sacrifice for the sins of others, but his resurrection represents something even more powerful: the potential for rebirth, salvation, and renewal of faith. It is that sense of new beginning that drives the symbolic representation of Easter as celebrated in schools and popular, often non-religious culture: Easter eggs, baby chicks and bunnies symbolise new life, new way forward, new hope for the brighter future. As the world around us continues to present us with challenges, it is good to hold onto such symbols – religious or simply linked to nature and the cycle of life – to normalise change as an integral part of life. Our school has demonstrated just that this week: a bit of reflection, a touch of sadness at the changes associated with the time passing and people leaving our school, made better by and a healthy dose of appreciation for the journey we are on, and the optimism for the future. I thank you all for your hard work this week and this whole term – it has been a short but intensive one! The next one will come in no time at all and it will prove to be brilliant, no doubt.

  • The Everton FC Collection
www.cultureliverpool.co.uk/the-everton-fc-collection/ The Everton FC Collection The Everton FC Collection is presented by Jan Grace from Liverpool Record Office and forms part of the Liverpool Through the Archives series, produced for the Connecting Our Communities project… The Everton Collection is the largest and most diverse collection of any football club in the UK. It covers the history of football on Merseyside, including when Everton and Liverpool were originally one team known only as Everton, and they played their football at Anfield. The reason why the Everton Collection exists is fundamentally because of one man, David France, and his steadfast devotion to Everton Football Club. This led him from buying a programme as an 8-year-old to prove to his Mum that he had attended the match, to progressing to systematically buying an astounding amount of EFC material that evidences both the social and footballing history of the first football club of Liverpool. In 2010, The Everton Collection Charitable Trust, with support from The Heritage Lottery Fund, purchased David France’s collection for a seven-figure sum and when, at the same time, Everton FC gifted its own archive, The Everton Collection was formed. The Collection is located at Liverpool Record Office at Liverpool Central Library where it is preserved and conserved in purpose-built archive accommodation meeting the highest standards for long-term preservation and under the care of professional archivists. The Everton Collection Charitable Trust was set up, with Lord Grantchester as Chair, to ensure the integrity of the Collection in future years, to prevent it from being split up and sold.
