OUR PROSPERITY IN 2021/22

We want the Falkland Islands to prosper through sustainable economic, social and political development. This infographic sets out how the Budget for 2021/22 will help improve the prosperity of everyone living and working here. Air transport

We continue to invest in the Falkland Islands Government Air Service, which is a vital lifeline for people across the Islands. £1.35m will be invested in a new airframe which is currently under construction and expected to join FIGAS next year. There is also funding for fleet and facility improvements, as well as upgrades to the terminal building; £550,000 has been ringfenced for this work in 2021/22. Roads and jetties

We will complete surfacing works on another four kilometres of the MPA road this year and £2.5m has been budgeted for this.

£1.25m has been allocated for repairing Stanley roads, and £1.35m for kerbing and resurfacing work in Teaberry Way. £2.65m will be spent on the road network, plus £770,000 for capping and crushing works on and £100,000 on . £950,000 will go towards jetty renovations. Housing

£2.5m will be invested in Phase 6 of Sapper Hill, together with £3.9m for overall housing construction in 2021/22.

£1.3m will be provided for housing and building maintenance and a £1m investment will be made in packaway buildings. Collectively this funding will support a government contract to deliver another 40 houses over the next 3-4 years. Capital developments

Our largest development in the capital programme is the new port facility, which will support our fishing and tourism industries for years to come. £6.5m will be invested in port development work this year, as well as £893,000 on improvements to FIPASS. £276,000 has been allocated for the new power station, together with £42,000 to support the operational capacity of the interim power station. £1.4m in funding has also been secured for the concept design of a new sports facility in Stanley.
