It is one of Walsall Wood the oldest parks in the borough, having Walsall been originally developed around two West Midlands large flooded limestone quarries, WS9 9NT opening as a public park in 1874.The 01543 454333 total area of the Arboretum today is 73.5 hectares. The older Victorian Colossus Gym areas of the park are located closest to 38 Rookery Lane the town centre and are more formal in Walsall nature. The core of the park includes WS9 8NN some iconic buildings and structures 01922 459410 such as the Arboretum Clock Tower, the Boathouse, a 1920’s Bandstand and the former Tea Pavilion (Leckie Sons of Rest building). More informal features are located in the southeastern area of the park including children’s play facilities, the lido and a trim trail.
