CITY of SUNDERLAND This User Guide TYNE & WEAR ARCHIVES USER GUIDE 15A SCHOOLS - CITY OF SUNDERLAND This User Guide outlines the records held relating to individual schools in the City of Sunderland. Separate User Guides are available for records of schools in Gateshead MBC (15B), North Tyneside MBC (15C), Newcastle City (15D) and South Tyneside MBC (15E). This User Guide is not a comprehensive list of all references to individual schools. The records included here are those normally maintained by the schools themselves and "strays" which are part of collections not associated with education in the City of Sunderland. References to individual schools will also be found in School Board and Education Committees records. Education Departments of local authorities often maintained files on individual schools and groups of schools such as Multilateral Units, as do some Administrative or Legal Departments. Plans and planning applications may be found in the records of Local Authority Engineers, Surveyors, Planning or Architects Departments. [See User Guide 13] Finally, Police and Fire Authority records may contain reports on incidents of vandalism, fires etc. We do not hold examination results. See http://web.aqa.org.uk/admin/p_records.php for location of records of some current and past examination boards. Abbreviations used throughout this guide :- LB = log books AR = Admissions registers PB = punishment books M = Managers/Governors minutes P = photographs DR = Discharge registers O = anything other than the above NB Access to records containing information of a sensitive personal nature is restricted. Please ask a member of staff for more details. Please enquire about access to any unlisted collections.. Where records have been classified the classmark appears in brackets after the name of the school. • Justification for Areas of High Landscape Value
The South Tyneside Local Plan Justification for extending the High Landscape Value boundary southwards on the South Tyneside Coast and amendment to proposed Boldon Downhill Area of High Landscape Value (July 2019) 2 To find out more about the Local Plan, please contact: Spatial Planning Team Development Services South Tyneside Council Town Hall and Civic Offices, Westoe Road South Shields, Tyne & Wear NE33 2RL Telephone: (0191) 424 7688 E-mail: [email protected] Visit: www.southtyneside.info/planning If you know someone who would like this information in a different format contact the communications team on (0191) 424 7385 1.1 This paper provides evidence to support the extension of The Coast: Area of High Landscape Value as proposed in the draft Local Plan (2019). The justification has been provided by the Council’s Senior Landscape Architect. 1.2 The South Tyneside Landscape Character Study Part 3 (2012) argued the case for the original area of High Landscape Value along the coastline. The area of coast originally recommended for inclusion in the landscape designation ran from Trow Point to Whitburn Coastal Park (See Fig.1). The southern boundary has been drawn to include Whitburn Coastal Park, and followed the edge of the Shearwater housing estate. However, the boundary was drawn to exclude the coastline further south. 1.3 The Council feel that there is merit in extending the candidate Coast Area of High Landscape Value and that there is justification for the area south of Whitburn Coastal Park to City of Sunderland Boundary being included this within the proposed designation.

My dear Sir, I was at Hodbarrow yesterday, and discussed the matter of the “tubbing”, with Mr. Barratt – We think, if you will allow us to do so, the best way will be for us to run up to Newcastle to see you, when we could see the Plans, you have so kindly offered to show us, and also [second page, sideways on, starts here] see Sir William Armstrong's people about making the “tubbing” - Would it be convenient for you to see us in Newcastle, either on Tuesday or Wednesday next the 8th or 9th inst? If so, where and at what hour would suit you best, I find we could get to Newcastle at 8.50 on the previous night- Yours very truly Edw. Wadham. Thomas E. Forster Esq.
