LETTER OF INTRODUCTION

Dear Endeavour Parents and Guardians,

The purpose of this handbook is to provide you with some of the information necessary to ensure your child’s effective participation in a secure, nurturing and challenging educational environment at Endeavour Elementary School. One of our continuing goals is to develop a strong partnership with Endeavour families. The ability to create and maintain a quality learning experience requires a team effort involving everyone – students, teachers, support staff, parents, and active community members.

As parents or guardians, your participation is most critical and necessary. Education is no longer a part-time activity. It doesn’t stop at the final bell of the school day. Some of the most important learning takes place in the home environment, whether it is sitting around the dinner table discussing the events of the day with your child(ren), teaching youngsters to set priorities or goals, or assisting with homework assignments.

The challenge is on-going. We are all aware that children of parents who are actively involved in the educational process demonstrate a higher level of academic achievement during their early school years. Parental involvement and support provides students with an increased sense of self-esteem and motivation and lowers the possibility for behavioral issues to arise.

Endeavour is our school. Working cooperatively with an understanding of friendship and mutual trust, we can make Endeavour a meaningful, successful and rewarding educational experience for your child.

We welcome any comments or questions regarding this handbook or any other aspect of the school program. Don’t hesitate to contact us.

Thank you, The Endeavour Staff

1 SCHOOL SCHEDULES

SCHOOL HOURS Begins Ends Grades K-5 ...... 9:20 a.m. 3:50 p.m. Early Release Grades K-5 – Every Wednesday ...... 9:20 a.m. 1:35 p.m.

BEFORE SCHOOL Students may enter their classrooms by way of the office or playground exterior door beginning at 9:10 a.m. This is very important for safety reasons. It also helps to keep traffic down past the main office allowing office business to continue with as little disruption as possible. Students having breakfast will be permitted into the school cafeteria beginning at 8:55.

Although safety patrol is out by 8:45, there is NO outside adult supervision until 9:10 a.m. when the buses unload and school doors are open. For safety reasons, students are encouraged not to arrive until 9:10 a.m.

BUILDING SCHEDULE Endeavour office hours are from 8:40 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. Monday through Friday. Regular teacher and support staff hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Parent-requested teacher conferences can be scheduled on most any day before or after classroom hours.)

PARENT-TEACHER PARTNERSHIP

An involved parent is someone who has established a meaningful working relationship with their child(ren)’s teacher. It is important to open the line of communication early in the school year. If possible, find the time to call and make an appointment for five to ten minutes to drop in and introduce yourself to the teacher either before or after school one day. It is good for both to put a face with a name.

Parents should let the teacher know you are concerned and interested in your child(ren)’s progress during the school year. This is particularly important if there have been academic, behavioral, family or social issues that may be affecting the educational progress.

Everyone is on a tight schedule these days, including teachers. Meetings during school hours (9:20 a.m. – 3:50 p.m.) are nearly impossible since teachers cannot leave the classroom to meet with you. Before and after school meetings can always be arranged. This is also the case with returning phone calls. If a teacher is unable to return your call during school hours, they most likely will do so after school or later in the evening at home.

A reminder: Regular school-wide conferences are scheduled in October. On these official conference days there is early dismissal to permit teachers to meet with parents or guardians. Letters will be sent home before conferences to explain the process and to schedule a meeting time. Spring conferences are only scheduled for new students or for special concerns.

Only together can we do the best job for our children.

Evergreen Public Schools will provide reasonable accommodations to people with disabilities. We invite any person with special needs to contact the ADA coordinator at least two weeks before programs or 72 hours before scheduled meetings to discuss any special accommodations that may be necessary.

Evergreen Public Schools complies with all federal rules and regulations and does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, sec, sexual orientation, including gender expression or identity, honorably discharged veteran or military status, marital status or disability. This holds true for all students who are interested in participating in educational programs including Career and Technical Education Programs and/or extra curricular school activities. Inquiries regarding compliance procedures may be directed to the school District’s Title IX/RCW 28A.640 Officer and/or Section 504 Coordinator.

AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

During the school year teachers may offer special programs such as crafts, basketball, volleyball, track, or music. It is important that parents pick their children up at the time agreed upon. Please contact the school if you know you are going to be late picking your child up, so the teacher is aware that you will be late and will have an idea as to when you will be here. Teachers are on their own time while they accompany students and await parents following these special after-school classes.

ATTENDANCE POLICIES

State Law requires when your child is home (sick, personal, or appointment) or if he/she will be late, please call the school attendance line at 604-4923 or the school office prior to 9:30 am if possible. Please leave a message stating your child's name, reason for the absence and teacher name. If you are unable to call please send a written note with your child upon his/her return to school. Indicate the child's name and room number or teacher name, reason for absence/tardy, and date(s) absent on the note. Thank you for your help. We want to make sure that your child's attendance is correct and up-to-date. If you notice an error on your child's report card regarding attendance, please contact the school office.

Students are expected to be on time for school. Late arrivals cause interruptions that are disruptive to the learning process for your child and for the other children in the class. If, for some reason,

5 your child has to be late to school, please call the attendance line at 604-4923 by 9:30 am and state that your child will be tardy, not absent.

RELEASING STUDENTS EARLY: If it is necessary for your child to leave school early for appointments, etc. Please come to the school office to sign them out. At that time, your child will be called in their classroom and sent to the office. Please inform your child's teacher by sending a note the day of the appointment, etc. This will help the teacher prepare your child for early dismissal. Leaving even a few minutes early is a disruption to a smooth ending to the day for the class. Call before 3:00 as the office will not call children out of class after that unless it is an emergency. Because important events are happening right up to dismissal time, please keep early dismissal requests to a minimum.

STUDENTS WITHDRAWING FROM ENDEAVOUR: Please notify the school office if you are planning to move out of the Endeavour school boundaries. We will then process the necessary information to make your child's transition to a new school easier. If you have any questions, please call the school office at 604-4920.

EMERGENCY SCHOOL/ INCLEMENT WEATHER CLOSURE SCHEDULE: We need your help in reminding your child/children where they should go if you are not home or what to do in case of a late start or early dismissal. PLEASE BE SURE THE SCHOOL HAS CORRECT EMERGENCY INFORMATION AND PHONE NUMBERS.

Due to the possibility of inclement weather, the transportation department has developed an emergency snow route plan to provide the safest transportation for Evergreen students. CLASS PLACEMENT

Class lists for the following year are formed in the spring. Placement decisions are based on many factors including student learning style, teaching style, student group dynamics, enrollment, and parent input. Parent input forms are available after spring break and must be filled out before class lists are formed. The availability of the forms will be advertised in the Endeavour monthly bulletins online beginning in late April and must be returned by the published due date.

CONFERENCES

Conferences are scheduled twice during the school year, October and February with early release at 1:20 p.m. for grades K through 5. Letters will be sent home before conferences to explain the process and to schedule a time. During conferences, parents and teachers have the opportunity to discuss student progress and school programs. It is important that parents or guardians attend these conferences. Additional conferences may be held any time parents or teachers feel that one is needed. Please call the teacher to arrange a convenient time.

COUNSELOR

Endeavour has a full-time social worker, Emily Kerssen-Griep. She is available to parents and students to handle crisis situations, parent consultations and to assist in referrals to community resources.

CUSTODY DOCUMENTS

Washington State law and district policy require that current custody papers or court orders be on file in the office. Documents must be issued in State, as those from other states are not honored in Washington. Questions regarding custody issues and disputes should be referred to your attorney.

DISCIPLINE POLICY

All members of the Endeavour School Community -- students, teachers, administrators and support staff -- are expected to function in a SAFE, KIND and RESPONSIBLE manner. Responsible behavior traits are taught, practiced and reinforced throughout the school year. (See Life skills.) Our discipline policy includes the following procedures: Depending on the level of the infraction, students generally meet with the Principal or Counselor following documentation of the infraction. Alternatives for the behavior are discussed and a form is sent home to be signed and returned by parents, which outlines our discipline procedure and states what the infraction was and what the consequences will be. If possible we will contact you by telephone to alert you that a discipline referral is coming home. Everyone must feel Endeavour Elementary is a safe and supportive place. However, as we keep the overall safety of students in mind, there are some “bottom line” consequences for more serious infractions. Choosing to disobey a rule which results in harm to other students and/or willful disobedience or disrespect to others is unacceptable at Endeavour School.

7 Such infractions may result in suspension. Bottom line infractions include the following:  Assault or fighting;  Bullying or harassment of any kind, including cyber bullying which can be threats conveyed over email, internet postings or text messaging;  Vulgar language, inappropriate hand gestures;  Racial slurs;  Weapons (guns, toy guns, knives, etc.)  Multiple serious infractions The purpose of the policy is to ensure student safety and to increase student responsibility by clearly defining school-wide expectations.

DRESS CODE

Clothing or appearance which is disruptive to the educational process or which presents a safety or health risk is not allowed at school. (Examples would be girl’s tops with spaghetti straps or which expose the midriff and boy’s pants which hang below the hips and/or drag on the ground.) Flip- flops & Heelies (shoes with wheels) present a safety hazard and are not allowed at school. Dress and appearance are the responsibility of parents. If there is a question regarding the appropriateness of attire, the final determination will be made by the building administrators. Hats are not allowed to be worn in the building.

RECESS ATTIRE When the weather is inclement the wind chill factor can reduce the real temperature to numbers below zero. Students should be reminded to wear layers of clothing, mittens or gloves, and hats or hoods to ward off the bitter cold. The walk from the bus to the building or home can be extremely cold if they aren't protected. On extremely cold days recess may be cancelled. Please be sure ALL student outer-wear is labeled with your child’s name so clothing may be returned to him or her. If articles of clothing are left at school, they may be claimed in our building’s Lost and Found.

EARLY RELEASE DAYS

Evergreen Elementary Schools have “Early Release Days” for students for the purpose of staff planning. Every Wednesday, beginning the 2nd week of school, students will be released at 1:35 pm.

EMERGENCY DRILLS

Throughout the school year a series of fire drills and other emergency drills are scheduled on a regular basis. Fire drills are generally conducted once a month. Students are also instructed in what to do in a variety of other emergency situations including earthquake and lock-down drills. Adults in the building need to follow the same procedures as staff and students during these events.

ENDEAVOUR FYI

The FYI is a classroom level behavior support system. It is intended to do three things:

1. Help teachers track patterns of behavior; 2. Keep parents informed about classroom behavior; and 3. Provide data when another level of behavior support is needed. (e.g. Wrap Around)

8 Every staff & student at Endeavour has the right and responsibility to expect desirable behavior in the school environment. Therefore, every staff member will be authorized to fill out an FYI if needed.

There are three main parts of an FYI:

What happened ~Inappropriate language, physical contact, lying/dishonesty, non-compliance, disruption, disrespect, vandalism or any other minor behavior.

Where it happened ~ Classroom, playground, gym, bathroom, cafeteria, hall/stairs, library, special event, bus loading zone, or other school areas.

Consequence ~ Not limited to, but could entail loss of recess, parent contact, conference, time-out, loss of other privilege, or problem solving sheet.

The FYI is on a two-page NCR form. One copy goes home for the parent to sign and the student returns it to the teacher; the bottom copy stays in the Teacher’s file.

The FYI is not directly attached to the referral system. Chronic FYIs do not automatically lead to a referral.

FAMILY EMERGENCY PLANS

Each family is required by the district to fill out a Family Emergency Plan, which specifies where their children are to go during an emergency school closure. In the event of an emergency situation, it is imperative that we know where the children are to go, who can pick them up, current phone numbers and how to reach parents and other relatives. It is the responsibility of the family to inform the school of any changes.

FINES

If textbooks or library books are lost or damaged, fines will be issued to cover replacement costs. Grades will be withheld at the end of the year until all book fines are paid.

FOOD SERVICES

BREAKFAST PROGRAM: Endeavour School has a Breakfast Program. Breakfast prices are $.95 per day. Breakfast starts at 8:55 and students are required to be in class by 9:20. If your child participates in the breakfast program, please ensure their timely arrival at school. Students on reduced lunch prices are eligible for free breakfast. Students on the free lunch program also receive free breakfast.

FREE/REDUCED LUNCH Applications for the free/reduced lunch program will be sent home the first day of school and are available in the school office. Students who qualified for free and reduced lunches last year must reapply to continue the free and reduced lunch program.

If a child forgets his/her lunch, an emergency lunch consisting of a sandwich, fruit, and milk will be provided. 9

SNACK AND COLD LUNCH As we work to support good health habits for children, we encourage you to provide healthy and nutritious choices. Please limit candy, sugar and all pop or soda.

BREAKFAST PROCEDURE Breakfast service will begin at 8:55. Kids will be expected to eat their breakfast in the cafeteria.

Breakfast will be served until 9:20 in the cafeteria. After 9:20 no breakfast will be served unless there is a late bus.

The cafeteria doors will close promptly at 9:20 so the custodian can prepare the cafeteria for P.E. classes. All the kids still in the cafeteria at that time will be sent on their way to class.

If kids still have non-messy foods such as fruit, string cheese, or wrapped crackers, they can put the items in their backpacks to eat later. No other foods/beverages (yogurt, milk, juice, cereal, breakfast burritos) will leave the cafeteria.

SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM: Hot lunches are served daily to all grades K-5. Lunches are $1.85 per day for the 2017 – 2018 school year. Each child has a food service account that parents can deposit money into in an amount convenient for them. Children are assigned a pin number to use to access their account. No money is used during the serving time. If the money in the account is not used, it will be carried over for the next school year. Please make checks payable to EVERGREEN SCHOOL DISTRICT.

Reduced Price Lunch Prices Kindergarten – 3rd graders are Free; 4th grade & 5th grade - $0.40

*** Milk is included with the hot lunch *** Price - $.45

Menus will be available on-line as the previous menu expires. Adult price for lunch is $3.00. If you or someone in your family plan to have lunch with your child, please call the office that morning so we can include you in the lunch count. This insures adequate food is available for all to be served.

10 HARASSMENT POLICY

Students - Prohibition of Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (Board Policy 3207) The district is committed to a safe and civil educational environment for all students, employees, volunteers and patrons free from harassment, intimidation or bullying. “Harassment, intimidation or bullying” means any intentional electronic, written, verbal, or physical act, including but not limited to one shown to be motivated by a characteristic in RCW 9A.36.080(3) (race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, gender, sexual orientation or mental or physical disability) or other distinguishing characteristics, when the act:

 Physically harms a student or damages the student’s property; or  Has the effect of substantially interfering with a student’s education; or  Is so severe, persistent, or pervasive that it creates an intimidating or threatening educational environment; or  Takes place at school, on the way to or from school, on or immediately adjacent to school grounds, at any school-sponsored activity, or on school-provided transportation; or  Has the effect of substantially disrupting the orderly operation of the school.

Nothing in this section requires the affected student to actually possess a characteristic that is a basis for the harassment, intimidation, or bullying. “Other distinguishing characteristics” can include but are not limited to, physical appearance, clothing or other apparel, socioeconomic status, gender identity, and martial status. Harassment, intimidation or bullying can take many forms including: slurs, rumors, jokes, innuendoes, demeaning comments, drawings, cartoons, pranks, gestures, physical attacks, threats, or other electronic, written, oral or physical actions. “Intentional acts” refers to the individual’s choice to engage in the act rather than the ultimate impact of the action(s).

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

HEALTH SERVICES Students who become ill during the school day are sent to the office. Usually if a child has a temperature of 100 degrees or more, parents are contacted and consulted about whether the child should be sent home. The school nurse is only in the building two days a week to handle serious health problems, emergency issues or parent consultations regarding on-going problems. As a rule, if your child is sick in the morning or running a fever, it’s best to allow her/him to remain at home for the day.

HEAD LICE: Occasionally cases of head lice have been discovered at school. If your child is infected, you will be notified. If live nits are found, the child should be treated as directed with medication recommended by your physician, health department or drug store/pharmacist. The most effective approach after shampooing is to remove the nit cases by pulling them off the individual hair shaft with your fingertips. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

11 ILLNESS: Students who have communicable diseases including Flu, Colds, Pink-eye, Impetigo, Chicken-Pox, etc., are excluded from school. If a child has had a fever or vomiting please keep them home for at least 24 hours after the symptoms stop.

Should a student become ill at school, the parent is notified to pick up the child. Please have current emergency and work numbers on file at school in the event of a serious injury or illness.

IMMUNIZATIONS: Washington State law requires certain immunizations against childhood diseases for all students, who attend a public or private school or a licensed day care center. On or before the first day of attendance, proof of the child's; (a) full immunizations, (b) initiation of schedule of immunization, or (c) certificate of exemption must be presented at the school. The legally required vaccines for students entering kindergarten are: REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL STUDENTS : (Month, Day, and Year is required) 4-doses of DPT or DT vaccine with the last dose on or after the fourth birthday and before the sixth birthday 3-doses of Oral Polio vaccine (OPV) with the last dose on or after the fourth birthday, or 4- doses of inactivated (injectable) Polio vaccine (IPV) 2 doses of live virus Measles vaccine on or after the first birthday and at least 30 days apart. 1-dose of Rubella vaccine on or after the first birthday* 1-dose of Mumps vaccine on or after the first birthday* 3-doses of Hepatitis B 2 dose of Varicella (chicken pox) starting with the 2008-2009 school year for Kindergarten students.

EXEMPTION: Medical exemption requires a physician's signature. Personal/Religious exemptions require a note from your doctor stating that you understand the risks of not immunizing your child. * (Laboratory evidence of immunity for measles, mumps, or rubella may be substituted for the vaccine)

MEDICATION AT SCHOOL: State regulations require medications only be administered in schools for the sole purpose of maintaining a child’s enrollment. If your child requires medication during school hours, regardless of whether the medication is to be taken long term or for only a few days, please come by the school office for an authorization for administration of medication at school form that must be signed by your child's doctor and the parent/guardian for each school year before we can administer the medication. We cannot give your child the medication without this authorization. Cough drops and any over the counter medications also need the authorization form to be filled out and signed.

HOMELESS STUDENTS

It is absolutely necessary for us to do our very best to identify students who qualify as homeless under district policy because they are eligible for particular services and we want to be certain that we offer that support. When a parent enrolls a student they fill out a form that should identify them at that point, however, families can become homeless after they are already enrolled and may not know that we have these resources available.

12 If a child or parent indicates that any of the following situations applies to their family please notify the School Counselor/Social Worker, the building secretary or the building administrator so they can follow up with the family.

Homeless students are defined as lacking a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence, including: A. Sharing the housing of other persons due to loss of housing or economic hardship B. Living in motels, hotels, trailer parks or camping grounds due to the lack of alternative adequate accommodations C. Living in emergency or transitional shelters D. Are abandoned in hospitals E. Awaiting foster care placement F. Living in public or private places not designed for or ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings G. Living cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, transportation stations or similar settings H. Are migratory children living in conditions described in the previous examples

Two times each school year the building liaison for the Families in Transition program will see that the definition of homelessness as well as information about the program and who to contact in the school is included on the building website and in any newsletter that are sent home to students.

If you ever have any questions or concerns about a family’s status be sure to check with the School Counselor/Social Worker, building secretary or the building administrator.

At the beginning of each school year the building liaison for the Families in Transition program will ensure that the educational rights for homeless students are posted in English, Spanish, Russian and any other relevant, available languages, where students and parents will see them.

HOMEWORK

Endeavour does not have a school-wide homework policy. Teachers establish their own individual homework expectation plan. It is expected, however, that all students will read at least 20 minutes each evening or that parents will read to their child(ren) at least once a day.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

As occasionally happens, school may be canceled, scheduled for a late opening, or dismissed early because of hazardous weather conditions. Local radio and TV stations will carry information regarding school openings or closures beginning at 6:00 a.m. During unusually inclement weather while at school, students may be kept inside for their recesses.

LIFESKILLS

Throughout the school year, students and staff will collectively work on the skills that we all need and use in our daily lives in order to be competent, functional and successful individuals. The Life skills are as follows: Integrity: To be honest, sincere and to do what is right. Initiative: To do something because it needs to be done. 13 Flexibility: The ability to alter plans when necessary. Perseverance: To continue in spite of difficulties. Sense of Humor: To laugh and be playful without hurting others. Effort: To try your hardest. Common Sense: To use good judgment. Problem Solving: To seek appropriate solutions in difficult situations. Responsibility: To be accountable for your actions. Patience: To wait calmly for something or someone. Friendship: To make and keep a friend through mutual trust and caring. Curiosity: A desire to learn or know about a full range of things. Caring: To feel concern for others. Courage: To be willing to take risks.

LOST AND FOUND

Clothing and other items which go unclaimed each day are placed in the “Lost and Found” closet in the building. Parents are encouraged to label all outer gear – jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, gloves, lunch pails, boots, etc. – with first and last names. During conference weeks all items are arranged on the shelf surrounding the media center for recognition and re-claiming by students and parents. At least twice a year, long-term items which remain in the “Lost and Found” are donated to charitable organizations. Ample warning announcements regarding these donations will be made in the school bulletin. We encourage you to label your child's clothing as it helps to return the lost item to its rightful owner. The school is not responsible for lost, or stolen items.

NONDISCRIMINATION

The district shall provide equal educational opportunity and treatment for all students in all aspects of the academic and activities program without regard to race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, including gender expression or identity, honorably discharged veteran or military status, marital status, previous arrest (unless a clear and present danger exists) or incarceration, the use of a trained dog guide or service animal by a person with a disability or non-program-related physical, sensory or mental disability: PROVIDED, however, that the following activities shall not be prohibited: 1. The grouping of students in physical education classes and activities by demonstrated ability as assessed by objective standards of individual performance developed and applied without regard to sex. 2. The separation of students by sex within physical education classes or activities and interscholastic sports offered for students in grades 6-12 if it can be shown that the maintenance of a separate physical education or activity, or interscholastic sport constitutes the best method of providing both sexes with an equal opportunity to participate and if a test of substantial equality between the two classes or activities or interscholastic sports can be met. 3. The conduct of separate sessions for boys and girls with respect to those portions of classes which deal exclusively with human sexuality. 4. The conduct of classes and/or activities within which minimum requirements are established based on vocal range or quality and which may result in a chorus of one or predominately one sex. The Superintendent shall provide for the annual evaluation, periodic surveys, and annual notice and complaint procedures as required by law to insure that there is in fact equal opportunity for all students in the district. 14

The Superintendent shall designate a staff member to serve as affirmative action/Title IX compliance officer. The Superintendent shall develop and implement a complaint procedure for students, and/or parents, staff, or other individuals acting on behalf of students of the district with regard to grievances alleging discrimination, as required by law. The district shall publish a notice in a manner reasonably calculated to inform all students, students’ parents, and district employees of the name, office address and telephone number of the compliance officer(s) and the complaint and appeal procedure.

PARENT-TEACHER ORGANIZATION

All Endeavour parents are automatically members of the PTO. The PTO is not affiliated with the national PTA, and there are no dues or attendance requirements. The Endeavour PTO is involved in a wide range of activities and fundraisers. PTO meetings are held regularly and announced online.

PERMISSION SLIPS

Parental notification is required if you have given your child permission to alter his or her regular school schedule, including such things as going home with another child, leaving with a relative, or staying for an authorized after-school event. Permission slips are also required for any field trip. Teachers will notify parents of upcoming field trips. A signed permission slip with emergency contact information is required for your student to participate. Students who do not have a signed permission slip will be placed in a “buddy classroom” for the duration of the field trip.

PERSONAL PROPERTY

Items not Acceptable at School: Any item that disrupts the educational process or endangers the safety of the student or others are not accepted at school. Please understand that gum, matches, knives, squirt guns, hard baseballs, bullets, toy or real guns or cap guns or fireworks of any kind are not allowed at school. (Toys, playing cards, radios, stereos, Cod, MP3, IPods, beepers and audio equipment, are not allowed at school without written permission of the parent and teacher.) Any item that looks similar to a gun is an automatic three-day suspension based on district policy.

CELL PHONES Although we discourage cell phones being brought to school by students, we understand that some parents need that extra communication with their child before and after school. If your student brings a cell phone to school, it MUST be turned off and in their backpack during school hours (9:20 - 3:50). The office phone is available for student use in the case of a need for parent contact. Any cell phone seen or heard during school hours will be taken and placed in the office for parent pick-up. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen personal property.

15 SAFESCHOOLS ALERT http://egreen-wa.safeschoolsalert.com

SPECIAL EDUCATION

Endeavour School, like every school in the district, provides special programs for the educationally challenged student. Referrals to these programs are made either by parents or teachers to determine if testing for special education is required. Such testing and/or placement in a special educational program cannot take place without parent or guardian approval.

STUDENT RELEASE

Only a parent or guardian listed on a student’s registration form is allowed to remove a child from school. A parent or guardian must come to the school office to sign the child(ren) out. Parents or guardians will be notified if any unauthorized person comes into the school and attempts to remove a child.

VISITORS OR VOLUNTEERS

Washington State Law requires a name check by the Washington State Patrol for a background check for all volunteers and chaperones in our schools. Paperwork is available at the main office and requires at least 2 week to process.

Parents and guardians are welcome to visit our school. School district policy requires that all adults report to the school office upon entering the school, at which time they will sign the visitor list and be given a visitor's badge. This policy is not designed to discourage parents from visiting the school, but to ensure the safety of students. Please do not go to the classroom in the building to just “drop off lunch money or homework” without checking in at the office. If you are planning to visit the classroom, you should prearrange the visit with the teacher. Visiting school-age children are not allowed to attend classes with friends or family. Only enrolled students and those accompanied by an adult are allowed on campus during the school day. This includes children wishing to “visit” a classroom with a friend or relative.

Please contact the school office 604-4920 if you are interested in volunteering.

Extended visits by parents with preschool children and school age visitors needs to be cleared through the office.
