To show relative locations of all parishes in the County of Wiltshire, especially those for which the Anglican Church birth, marriage and burial registers exist. boundaries are shown, and some purely Civil Parish names where there is no ecclesiastical equivalent. Adobe Reader can be used On Screen for finding any name on the map. There are many versions, this map can be used with Adobe version 5 or later. For all versions, Ctrl F opens a text-search box (search in current document), Ctrl + and Ctrl - zoom in and out. Because spellings vary over time, if you don’t find what you are looking for, try searching on only part of a parish name. Continue searching until no more entries are found, there may be other references on this the second sheet. Names found are highlighted in Blue. You can download this map by copying it, and an A3 printed version with a grid and a full key is also available.

Boundaries and Changes. All boundaries shown are diagrammatic and not exact. Where the County boundary has been moved from time to time so as to include or remove Parishes the year of that change is shown on the map beneath the parish name. The map shows the present day County boundary, but there have been many changes of the Registration Districts within the county, and their boundaries are shown after the 1936/37 changes. The Registrars offices were then in the towns shown in Capitals. In towns and areas which have multiple parishes, too close together to show, the quantity of these, e.g.(3), is shown after the principal name. The other names are then all listed below on this second sheet. As new parishes have been formed or old ones have ceased to exist, not all such changes can be shown, and their events are to be found recorded under other parish names as listed here. On this sheet, and on the map, the names of parishes for which records exist about or before the start of Civil registration in 1837 are printed in Arial Font, thus , and later ones in Times New Roman, thus .

The Wiltshire Family History Society publishes transcripts by various methods, as printed books, on CDs, or downloadable. The prime source of information for identifying your Wiltshire ancestors are the parish registers of the Established church, some starting as early as 1538. In conjunction with Nimrod Indexes all this data, baptisms, burials, and now marriages, up to 1837 when Civil Registration started, will be available. Transcripts of other Sources can help you to fill in the details of your forbears’ lives, and wherever possible they include surname and forename indexes. For full and regularly updated details of all our transcripts and how to obtain them, please visit our Website, www.wiltshirefhs.co.uk, publications section. ------Bradenstoke, entries to be found under Christian Malford and Lyneham Melksham Without – Christ Church Shaw with Whitley
