2018 International Advocate for Peace Award Ceremony Honoring Leymah Gbowee

Leymah Gbowee helped end the Second Liberian Civil War through her organization Women of Mass Action for Peace. She won the 2011 for Peace for this work. She currently serves as Executive Director of the Women, Peace and Security Program at the Earth Institute at .

Many past recipients of the International Advocate for Peace Award were honored for helping resolve a conflict, such as Ambassador Richard Holbrooke (Dayton Peace Accords), President (Camp David Accords), Archbishop Desmond M. Tutu (Peace and Reconciliation Commission) and Senator George Mitchell (Good Friday Agreement).
