Competency-based interview: during your interview you will be asked questions about past scenarios or challenges you faced, and we will explore how you handled them. Come prepared with several recent scenarios to share during your interview.

For example:

• Tell me about a time when you worked on multiple projects and how did you prioritize? • Give me an example when you went above and beyond what was expected. • Give me an example of a time when you were able to influence and motivate others. • Tell me about a time when you didn’t meet a goal and how you handled it.

What we are looking for: be prepared to answer the questions by providing the specific situation, task, action and the result. We are looking for answers that have a beginning, middle and end. You can follow the STAR method to respond to competency-based interview questions.

• Situation: describe the scenario. Be sure to include as many details as possible, for example: who was working with you, deadlines, job, and any additional information that will help the interviewers understand. • Task: describe what you were hoping to achieve. • Action: describe the actions you took to complete the task or project. Be sure to focus on what you were contributing to the task. • Result: describe what was the outcome and lessons learned and how this impacted the team or company.

How to prepare:

• Think of scenarios in advance that you can share during the interview. • Review Ciena’s principles and learn more about the company and highlight during your interview how your previous work experience aligns with Ciena. • When answering questions, be sure to stay focused on the question asked and provide concrete, specific answers. • Follow the STAR method to ensure you are providing complete and specific answers.

Business Casual - Forget the suit when interviewing at Ciena. Men might opt to wear jeans or chinos, a button down or polo shirt, a belt and dress shoes. Women might consider wearing a suit, saree, formal dress, or a top with a skirt or dress pants and dress shoes or sandals.

Nearest Bus stops: H.S.R BDA Complex bus stop, if coming from Outer Ring Roadside (approx. 700 meter/ 8 min walk from bus stop to office)

Bommanahalli bus stop: if coming from Bommanahalli side (approx. 3.7 km/ 15 min drive by autorickshaw from bus stop to office)

Landmark: Opposite Khadim’s showroom (Searching for “Centina Systems” on Google Maps will take you to the exact location)
