It’s regarded as one of the corniest pick up lines around: Hello, What’s your sign? In response, a woman will usually turn up her nose, scrunch her face, laugh, or walk away in disgust. Yes, asking what is your sign? is probably the worst opening line a guy could use with any female, regardless of her age or background. So why dedicate an entire book to the study of the Zodiac signs? At the appropriate time in a conversation, the answer to the question, “What’s your sign?” can give you a lot of information and insight about the woman with whom you are speaking. A clear understanding and knowledge of Astrology can reveal information about the women’s personality, characteristics and behavior. Mastery of the basics of Astrology is a powerful tool for reading a woman and knowing how to behave with her, how to please her, how to win her, and how to turn her on. Regardless of whether you just met her or you are in a committed relationship, this book will help you to better understand your woman, her personality, her best and worst behavior and what she is like when in love and when in bed. You will learn what to expect from her, and techniques that will help you to better handle her and keep her happy. Of course, if you make her happy, www.patrickwanis.com 8 then she will make you happy. If you make her feel special, then she too, will make you feel special. In this book, I also teach you the basic Seduction Strategies and Turn Offs for each sign. So even if you are a married man, understanding and applying this book will help improve your marriage. (If you are a woman you may want to give this book as a gift to the man in your life so he can better understand and please you.) And if you really want to show off, if you master this book, you will be able to meet a woman for the first time and accurately guess her sign within a few minutes of speaking with her. At the very least, it makes for interesting and fun conversation and, you can impress a woman with your knowledge. And here is one more important revelation: women are very curious. Almost every woman loves to intently listen to a man talking to her about herself. After all, it is a rare occurrence for a man to give a woman such undivided attention! JK www.patrickwanis.com 9 UNDERSTANDING ASTROLOGY www.patrickwanis.com 10 WHAT IS ASTROLOGY? There are two main types of Astrology: Western and Chinese. (There is also Tibetan, Aztecan, Indian and Celtic Astrology.) For the purposes of this book, we will refer simply to Western Astrology. Also, there is a significant difference between Astrology and Daily Horoscopes. Astrology is interpretation of the influence of heavenly bodies on human affairs. It is the study of the relationship between movements of the Sun, Moon and other planets of the Solar System and events and human behavior on Earth. Horoscopes, on the other hand, are associated with predicting the future based on the positions of planets and signs of the Zodiac. Horoscopes predict a person's future, based on a diagram of the aspect of the planets and stars at a given moment, thus we have “Daily Horoscopes.” In this book, I deal only with Astrology as it pertains to human behavior and characteristics. HISTORY OF ASTROLOGY Entire and conflicting books have been written about the history of Astrology. Almost every ancient people had some system of examining the heavens for the purposes of predicting and foretelling the future. Western astrology has roots that stretch back into Greece, Egypt, Persia, www.patrickwanis.com 11 Southern Europe and India. It is believed as early as 4000 BC Astrology began in Mesopotamia. The Sumerians built the enormous ziggurats, recognized by some historians as the first astrological observatories. The Sun, Moon and five visible planets were used, and Astrological knowledge was recorded on clay tablets. Charting and modern Astrology began with the spread of ancient Hellenistic Greek thought and philosophy between 323 and 31 BC. In that time each area of the world practiced its own variation of Astrology. Then in the late Hellenic Greek period around 150 AD Ptolemy wrote The Tetrabiblos, the most comprehensive work on astrology to date. From there the study, development, and widespread acceptance of astrology prospered among the prominent philosophers of the day. Accordingly today’s modern individualized astrology sprung forth. THE ZODIAC BAND There are twelve signs of the Zodiac Band. The Band is like an imaginary circle around Earth. It is divided into 12 parts, and each part has a name given to a 30-degree arc of the sky as viewed from the earth. As the earth moves around the Sun, the Sun is regarded as passing from one 30-degree arc to the next until it has completed its 360-degree journey in one year. Therefore a person’s birthday is used to determine the position of the Sun and accordingly his or her Zodiac sign. For example a www.patrickwanis.com 12 woman born December 12 will have a Sun sign of Sagittarius because the Sun is in the Zodiac sign of Sagittarius. ACCURACY The most common reference to Astrology is the position of the Sun at the time of your birth (i.e. your Sun Sign –Aries, Leo, Libra, etc.) The complete and more accurate analysis and reading involves place of birth, day and date of birth and time of birth. This complete birth chart then gives you the positions of the sun, moon and other planets, and thus, a more accurate reading. YOUR SUN SIGN If you want to be able to use Astrology to your advantage, you first need to learn and memorize the Sun signs. Aries March 21 - April 19 Taurus April 20 - May 20 Gemini May 21 - June 21 Cancer June 22 - July 22 Leo July 23 - August 22 Virgo August 23 - September 22 Libra September 23 - October 22 Scorpio October 23 - November 21 Sagittarius November 22 – Dec. 21 Capricorn December 22 - January 19 www.patrickwanis.com 13 Aquarius January 20 - February 18 Pisces February 19 - March 20 ASTROLOGY AND HUMAN BEHAVIOR Generally speaking, the description of behavior and characteristics in this book for each of the Sun signs will prove to be accurate. There are some variables though, sex, age, environment, upbringing and, of course, free will. For example, as a Leo, I have spent many years toning down my fiery temperament. Also, if a person is on the Cusp of a sign (at the end of one and beginning of the next) she will have certain characteristics of the next sign. THE ELEMENTS The twelve signs are broken into four categories known as Elements –Fire, Earth, Air and Water. Each element has its own traits and characteristics. For example, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces are all water elements. To understand the nature of those signs that belong to water, think of the fluidity and depth of water -receptivity, sensitivity and emotional depth. JK www.patrickwanis.com 14 ELEMENT: FIRE Aries, Leo, Sagittarius QUALITY: Positive -masculine -spontaneous and self- expressive TRAITS: Think of fiery traits- ardor, spirit and spontaneity.

Introductii on Astrology is a fascinating subject. While almost everyone knows his or her astrological sign, they are not always familiar with the personal characteristics associated with it. Those who turn their interest into more understanding of the subject itself will gain some truly unique insights about themselves and others. I have rarely encountered a person totally immune from wanting to know more about astrology. The following paragraphs explain some of their most frequent questions. What ii s astroll ogy? Astrology is the study of cycles. The sun, moon, and planets move in their own time and in their own space according to individual cycles. Similarly ordained, the earth and all life upon its surface carry forward in complicated, perhaps never-to-be-fully understood, patterns that make up the Grand Design of the cosmos. The Greeks believed this enthusiastically. Some of the greatest thinkers in the history of mankind did not at all think it unreasonable to study planetary cycles in order to gain a better understanding of how mankind in general and people as individuals, fit into the universal cosmos. The Greeks assembled the body of knowledge upon which modern astrology is based. They applied their advanced understanding of astronomy and mathematics to the descriptions handed down from the astrologers/astronomers (there was no distinction in those days) of ancient Egypt and Babylonia. What does one’s astrological sign mean? When people refer to their astrological sign, they are merely stating which sign of the zodiac the sun was in when they were born. Why is the sun's position so important in astrology? As stars go with respect to size and brilliance, our sun is not a very impressive specimen.

  • Who Believes in Astrology? E€Ect of Favorableness of Astrologically Derived Personality Descriptions on Acceptance of Astrology
Personality and Individual Differences 31 12001) 895±902 www.elsevier.com/locate/paid Who believes in astrology? Eect of favorableness of astrologically derived personality descriptions on acceptance of astrology Margaret Hamilton * University of Wisconsin Ð Washington County, Department of Psychology, 400 University Drive, West Bend, WI 53095 3699, USA Received 9 February 2000; received in revised form 10 August 2000; accepted 4 October 2000 Abstract Participants judged contemporary personality descriptions of odd-numbered astrological Sun signs to be more favorable than descriptions of even-numbered signs. Those born with the Sun in an odd-numbered sign expres- sed more belief in astrology than those born under an even-numbered Sun sign. These ®ndings suggest that one determinant of acceptance of astrology is the favorableness of the character analysis it oers. Implications for previous research on belief in astrology are discussed. # 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved. Keywords: Astrology; Favorableness; Personality descriptions; Acceptance 1. Introduction Many researchers have noted both the widespread contemporary belief in astrology and the extent to which people exposed to astrological character analysis readily accept the personality descriptions it oers them 1Glick, Gottesman & Jolton, 1989; Snyder, 1974; Snyder, Larsen & Bloom, 1976). Recent ®ndings have suggested that this acceptance need not be short-lived. People may, in fact, incorporate astrologically based personality characteristics into their long-term self- concepts. Hamilton 11995) found that undergraduates, presented with one-paragraph descrip- tions of the characteristics of their own astrological ``Sun sign'' and an alternative Sun sign, chose their own Sun sign paragraph as a better representation of their personality than the alternative Sun sign description.

All material copyright 2004-2011 by Gloria Star. All rights reserved Gloria Star — A Biographical Sketch It was not my plan to become an astrologer. In fact, like most people I knew very little about “real” astrology when I was growing up. By the time I entered college — (when I, of course, knew everything!) — a friend was always talking about her amazement with astrology. “You’re way too smart to fall for that!” I told her. So, she challenged me, and I took the bait. I set out to disprove astrology. Imagine my surprise when, after setting up an empirical study of the subject, I began to realize that there was real substance to this ancient system of understanding life. Coupled with my academic endeavors in the fi elds of nursing, secondary education and psychology — the study of astrology and metaphysics was a perfect compliment. I began my work as a professional astrologer in the 1970s, and thus far the journey has been life- transforming. My clients have been my best teachers, and although I have taught countless classes in astrology, metaphysics and life enrichment — it is the process itself that has been most enriching and consciousness-expanding. Part of my quest has led me to write, and in the past seventeen years I’ve written, edited or contributed to 29 astrology books, annuals and anthologies. Among these, Astrology: Woman to Woman, Optimum Child (revised as Astrology & Your Child), and the Llewellyn Sun Sign and Moon Sign Books are probably the best known. Several of my books have been translated into other languages beyond English.
