Also, some members of the UD community will take a bus to Columbus at 6:30 a.m. Friday to pray outside the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville during the planned execution of Alton Coleman. The state of Ohio plans to execute Coleman at 10 a.m. Friday. Coleman was sentenced to die for the 1984 beating death of Marlene Walters of Norwood, Ohio. He also has been convicted of three other murders in a multistate crime spree in that year. "We simply don't have the moral right to take another's life," said Sister Nancy Bramlage, S.C., director of UD's Center for Social Concern. "I believe in the sacredness of human life, even for those who have committed heinous crimes." Of the trip to the prison, Bramlage said, "We're going to gather to pray for the condemned man, his victims, others at the prison and for society. We'll pray that the people of Ohio have a change of heart someday and reverse the state's death penalty law." For media interviews, contact Sister Nancy Bramlage, S.C., at home (937) 258-3113 or at the Center for Social Concern (937) 229-2524.
