Lafourche Parish and students from Lafourche Parish may attend schools in Terrebonne

Parish under the following terms and conditions:

1. Students from Terrebonne Parish may not attend school in Lafourche Parish except in isolated instances where mutual agreement is reached between the superintendents of both parishes in cases involving children of teachers and children with special medical problems.

2. Due to undefined and disputed boundary issues between Terrebonne Parish and Lafourche Parish children who reside in the Grand Bois community (geographical area between Bourg and Larose on Hwy 24 also known as the Bourg-Larose Hwy), the lower western part of Bayou Blue below the Company Canal (located near the end of Hwy 316) may attend school in either Lafourche Parish or Terrebonne Parish. There will be no monetary reimbursement between either parish for the education of these children.

3. In order to minimize the hardship caused by travel for residents who live in the lower Point-aux-Chene area and that area south of the Intercoastal Canal in the Bourg area, children may attend schools in Terrebonne Parish. Monetary reimbursement shall be made by the Lafourche Parish School Board as outlined in R.S. 17:105 (Admission to schools in adjoining parishes).

Children who register in one particular parish must remain in that parish school system for the remainder of that school calendar year.
