Cove Program Guide BILLY GRAHAM TRAINING CENTER AT THE COVE ASHEVILLE, N.C. COME AWAY AND FEEL THE POWER OF GOD’S PRESENCE PROGRAM GUIDE 2021 “Truly, the Lord is in this place … come and see what God will do for you.” —BILLY GRAHAM TRAINING CENTER AT THE COVE GUEST TABLE OF CONTENTS An Evening at The Cove ...................22 Christmas at The Cove ......................22 Guest Group Events .........................27 Men’s Retreat ....................................... 15 Ministry Calendar at a Glance ... 12 Pastor Renewal Retreats ...............20 Personal Spiritual Retreats ..........22 Registration Information ..............24 Seminars ................................................14 Senior Adult Events ......................... 21 Tours of the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove .......23 Women’s Events .................................23 COME, DRAW NEAR TO GOD For more than 30 years, guests who have visited the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove have said the same thing over and over—that their time here allowed them to feel God’s presence, hear His voice, and be refreshed by His Word. That’s exactly what Billy and Ruth Graham had in mind when they founded the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in 1988. Billy used four words to describe his vision for the mountaintop retreat: impact, intercession, instruction, and inspiration. Ruth also summed up her hopes and prayers for the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in four words: retreat, relaxation, rest, and renewal. “It is our prayer that this will be a place where people leave behind the pressures and distractions of life and focus on God and His Word,” they said. No matter what you’re facing, we want to give you the opportunity to draw closer to God during a visit to the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove. “Come with me … to a quiet place and get some rest.” —MARK 6:31, NIV SPEND DEDICATED TIME WITH THE SAVIOR “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you” (James 4:8, ESV). What a wonderful promise from God’s Word— and the heart behind everything we do at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove. From the very beginning, my grandparents wanted the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove to be a place where men and women could seek the Lord’s presence, wisdom, and strength. Everything here—from the comfortable inns, secluded walking trails, and chef-prepared meals—is designed to help you leave behind the stress of everyday life and focus wholeheartedly on your relationship with Jesus Christ. So many people have told us their time here helped them seek God—and hear from Him—in a way they’d never experienced before. It’s my prayer that you, too, will find the joy of His presence here. When you visit, we trust you’ll be renewed by the study of God’s Word, meaningful worship, and friendly fellowship with other believers. WILL GRAHAM Executive Director, Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove “The Lord gives His people strength; the Lord blesses His people with peace.” —PSALM 29:11, HCSB FIND STRENGTH IN GOD’S PRESENCE AND WISDOM IN HIS WORD The Bible is filled with story after story about the power of God’s presence—from Moses’ encounter with the burning bush to Jesus slipping away to pray alone during His time on earth. There’s simply nothing like dedicated time spent with the Lord. At the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove, everything is designed to help you experience God’s presence in a tangible way. Seminars led by gifted Bible teachers give you the opportunity to deepen your understanding of Scripture, while Personal Spiritual Retreats invite you to enjoy self-guided study and reflection. Whether you come alone, with a spouse, or in a group, this mountaintop retreat offers countless opportunities to “seek the Lord and … seek his presence” (Psalm 105:4, ESV). I hope you’ll come experience the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove for yourself—and that you’ll leave changed by your time here with the Savior. FRANKLIN GRAHAM President, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association REFLECTIONS FROM THE BILLY GRAHAM TRAINING CENTER AT THE COVE “We were very, very low in ministry, to the point of quitting for good. We’ve been discouraged and deeply hurt, but this weekend has been a light in darkness for us. The Lord restored our souls and … used this time to confirm what He wants for us and give us strength.” —Simon and Alyssa,* Kentucky “As a full-time caregiver of my parents, I carry a lot of stress but oh, when I pulled onto the property, God started taking everything from me! It brought me to tears!” —Linda,* Louisiana “It was so refreshing to be able to come to a beautiful place and rest without guilt. We loved learning about how to honor the Lord and love each other better through our marriage. This weekend has been a gift we will treasure!” —Mike and Jen,* North Carolina “The atmosphere is so calm and serene, offering such peace that all you want to do is talk aloud to God and still hear Him and feel His arms around you.” —Alex,* Texas * Names are changed to protect the privacy of our guests. 2021 MINISTRY CALENDAR AT A GLANCE 2021 MINISTRY CALENDAR AT A GLANCE DATE SPEAKER/ARTIST TITLE PAGE DATE SPEAKER/ARTIST TITLE PAGE Jan. 12–Feb. 23 Patty Stump Women’s Bible Study—Defining Moments: Step Up, 23 Aug. 1 Annie Moses Band An Evening at The Cove 22 Stand Firm, and Stay Focused (Tuesday Mornings) Aug. 6–8 Will Graham Exits and Entries: Life, Death, and Exit 17 Jan. 12–Feb. 23 Kendra Graham Women’s Bible Study—#UNRESTRAINED Part 2 23 JANUARY (Tuesday Evenings) Aug. 16–18 Mel Blackaby SeniorCelebration—The Uncomfortable Will of God: 21 Trusting His Plan and Resting in His Power Feb. 12–14 Chip Ingram Military Marriage Retreat—Four Biblical Skills 14 Aug. 18–20 Jim Henry Power Living for Today and Last Days 17 Great Marriages Have in Common Aug. 20–22 Anne Graham Lotz Leaving a Godly Legacy 17 FEBRUARY Feb. 14 Brandon Heath An Evening at The Cove 22 AUGUST with Rachel-Ruth Wright March 11 The Collingsworth Family An Evening at The Cove 22 Aug. 23–25 David Arthur The Kingdom of God: A Study of Matthew 13 18 March 12–14 Will Graham Exits and Entries: Life, Death, and Exit 14 Aug. 25–27 Lee Strobel Stronger Salt, Brighter Light 18 March 15–17 Thom S. • New Covenant UMC WATCH Text GOTAMINUTE to 51555 to Receive
New Covenant UMC Falling Apart or Falling into Place? For the past 6 weeks, I have been filming a brief Good News segment on social media every morning at 10 o'clock. I stand in front of bookshelves in my office where I have some pictures. Since many asked me about the people in the pictures, I decided to take a different picture each day and tell about the person in the picture and what good news they might share. I did this from April 20th for 12 days through May 1st. I had pictures with Rod Lavar, Bart Starr, George Beverly Shay, Bobby Richardson, Albert Long, Evander Holyfield, and six others. If you’re interested in seeing these videos you can find them by using the search feature on my Facebook page. One person I shared about was Anne Graham Lotz, Billy Graham’s daughter. She had invited me to speak at a retreat for some of her friends in North Carolina. She recently was speaking to the employees at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in Charlotte, North Carolina. My friend, Wayne Atcheson, leads the ministry of the Billy Graham Library. This is one of the most inspiring and informative places that I have ever visited. Wayne quoted Anne saying, “Many people are saying the world is falling apart – the world is not falling apart – it’s falling into place.” Wow! That’s a powerful statement. Many people today do think that the world is falling apart. The world is not falling apart - t’s falling into place!! I want to focus on the place that the world is falling into.
