PERSONAL STATEMENT

As a highly motivated structural engineer and researcher specialized in the conservation of historical buildings with a focus on seismic issues, I have strong analytical skills, interdisciplinary knowledge in the fields of structural engineering and restoration, accompanied with a client focused attitude and a detailed knowledge of Italian and European technical codes.

WORKING EXPERIENCE Location

Sept. 2019 - ongoing Graduate Intern Los Angeles, CA (USA) Getty Conservation Institute, Building and Sites Department: • Bagan Conservation Project: classification of monuments into building typologies based on their seismic behavior and architectural characteristics, research on the traditional construction techniques in Bagan, supporting advanced research on modeling and testing on the temple of Myin-Pya-Gu to understand the monument's behavior and design appropriate minimal interventions, and developing

strategies for repair of the monuments across the site. • Seismic Retrofitting Project: developing guidelines and manuals for the conservation community and site managers who implement retrofitting techniques, highlighting the significance of constant monitoring, maintenance, and repair.

Jun. 2018 - Jun. 2019 Test and Monitoring Engineer ()

Studio Progettazione e Controlli / Studio Croci & Associati: • In situ tests on historical buildings and drafting detailed reports (flat jack test, endoscopy, sonic tomography, dynamic monitoring, Sonreb test, Rebar detection, dynamic penetration test). • Maintenance intervention of monitoring systems (i.e. Villa Medici, San Nicola dei Lorenesi)

Apr. 2018 - Oct. 2018 Research Fellow in "Conservation of Cultural Heritage in seismic areas" Rome (Italy)

Roma Tre University, Department of Architecture: • Sustainable interventions: laboratory testing of old timber roof of Michelangelo's cloister in Diocletian's Baths with numerical finite element validation. • In situ testing on historical masonry (flat jack test, endoscopy, sonic tomography, dynamic identification test).

Oct. 2017 - Mar. 2018 Conservation Engineer Rome (Italy) Studio Da Gai Architetti: • Structural design aimed to retrofit, improvement and repair of historical buildings with particular reference to masonry structures damaged by earthquake.

• Restoration work of San Filippo Neri church in Macerata (Central Italy).

Mar. 2016 - Aug. 2016 Consumption Analyst Rome (Italy) Techem Energy Services GmbH: • Draft of monthly reports of heath and water consumption of building complexes.

• Customer relationship management.

EDUCATION

Nov. 2018 - ongoing Doctoral Degree in Heritage Innovation: Building Culture curriculum Rome (Italy)

Roma Tre University, Department of Architecture: • Roma Tre Scholarship. • Integrated methodology for monitoring historical constructions: research on a holistic strategy of monitoring the cultural heritage comprehending dynamic monitoring, non-destructive techniques,

minor destructive techniques and geometrical survey structure from motion. The research aims to develop a workflow to build, update and validate numerical model to comprehend and predict the

structural behavior of historical constructions.

Sept. 2016 - Jul. 2017 Advanced Master in Structural Analysis of Historical Construction and Barcelona (Spain) Monuments (Erasmus Mundus SAHC Master) Padua (Italy) Joint Master Degree with Technical University of Catalonia and : • SAHC Master Consortium Scholarship. • “Torno Subito 2016” Full Scholarship promoted by the Regional Department for Training, Research, Schools and University of Lazio. • Cross-disciplinary education in the field of conservation engineering and restoration comprising: static analysis, linear and non-linear dynamic analysis, pushover analysis, Macro and Micro numerical modelling with finite and discrete elements methods, seismic assessment, strengthening techniques, monitoring, surveying, diagnosis and in-situ testing. • Master Thesis: “Seismic assessment of ancient water towers in Pompeii”. Finite and discrete elements modelling of the towers after in-situ sonic tomography test, dynamic identification test and ground penetration radar, parametric analysis, verification according to the Italian Code and comparison with the possible collapse mechanisms (kinematic analysis).

Oct. 2011 - Oct. 2015 Master’s Degree in Structural Civil Engineering Rome (Italy) University of Rome "La Sapienza", Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering: • Design and management of steel and reinforced concrete civil constructions, dynamic analysis of

the structures, seismic design, planning of geotechnical analysis and design of piles and foundations. • Master Thesis in Structural Dynamics: “Non-Conventional TMD Design in existing Reinforce Concrete Building via inter-story isolation system”, experimental seismic retrofit intervention.

Feb. 2013 - Aug. 2013 Erasmus+ Program Delft (The Netherlands) Delft University of Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering: • Structural Engineering Track, accomplishing the exams of Structural Dynamics, Materials and Ecological Engineering, Flood Defenses and Steel Bridges. • “Erasmus+ 2012/2013” Scholarship for academic merits.

Oct. 2005 - Nov. 2011 Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering Rome (Italy)

University of Rome "La Sapienza", Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering: Scientific knowledge in the fields of Structural Design (Building Technology, Construction Science and Rational Mechanics) Geotechnics, Hydraulics and Civil Infrastructures (Soil Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics,

Hydraulic Infrastructures and Road Design).
