Western & Southern Open Defending Champions Headline Doubles Fields CINCINNATI (Aug. 11, 2020) – Both the women’s and men’s defending champions are among the initial entries to play doubles at the 2020 Western & Southern Open, which will be held Aug. 20-28 at the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center in New York. The 2019 WTA doubles winners – Lucie Hradecka and Andreja Klepac – are joined by the ATP Tour champions – Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek – to headline the early entries. Other notable entries on the women’s side include the teenage pairing of Cincinnati’s 18-year-old Caty McNally and 16-year-old Coco Gauff. Dubbed “McCoco,” the duo won a pair of WTA titles in 2019 – at Washington, D.C. and Luxembourg – and reached the US Open Round of 16. Elise Mertens and Aryna Sabalenka, who finished 2019 atop the WTA Porsche Race to Shenzen as the season’s No. 1 team, are also in the field. Reigning Australian Open singles champion Sofia Kenin, a 21-year- old American, has entered with former Western & Southern Open singles and doubles winner Victoria Azarenka. The top two teams in the ATP Tour doubles race are entered in the men’s draw. The No. 1 team of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah is returning after reaching two straight Western & Southern Open finals. They are joined in the field by the No. 2 team of Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo. The ATP Tour No. 1 ranked singles player, Novak Djokovic, has entered the doubles draw with countryman Filip Krajinovic. An additional five women’s teams and six men’s duos will join the fields through on-site entries, while the tournament will award three wild cards into each draw to complete the 32-team fields.

Cincinnati’s Caty McNally Awarded Western & Southern Open Wild Card Madeira Resident Joins Field Featuring Five Former Champions CINCINNATI, Ohio (July 21, 2021) – Cincinnati native Caty McNally has been awarded a wild card for the singles field at the 2021 Western & Southern Open. McNally was told of her wild card during an appearance at the Western & Southern Open First Look presented by First Financial Bank at the Lytle Park Hotel in Cincinnati. This season, Madeira’s McNally reached the quarterfinals in Guadalajara while also advancing to the Round of 16 on two other occasions. In 2020, she reached the third round at the US Open, and in the previous season posted her career-best WTA singles result with a semifinal in Washington, D.C. The 19-year-old who will be playing the Western & Southern Open for a third time owns a pair of titles at ITF events. McNally has enjoyed a great deal of professional success in doubles, winning four titles already, including a pair in 2021. Three of those titles have come in partnership with 17-year-old Coco Gauff, with whom she has reached a pair of Australian Open quarterfinals. As a junior in 2018, McNally was runner-up at the French Open, losing to Gauff, and a quarterfinalist at Wimbledon. She also won the junior doubles title at the US Open (w/ Gauff) and French Open (w/Iga Swiatek) that same season. McNally joins a field that includes the Top 20 players in the WTA Rankings. The full WTA field, which was announced prior to the First Look presented by First Financial Bank event, includes five former Western & Southern Open winners and 13 Major champions.

Cincinnati Natives McNally, Wolf Awarded Western & Southern Open Wild Cards Caty McNally to Make Main Draw Singles Debut; JJ Wolf Returns in Qualifying CINCINNATI (July 31, 2019) – Two Cincinnati natives have been awarded wild cards to participate in the Western & Southern Open. Seventeen-year-old Caty McNally will make her main draw debut while 20-year-old JJ Wolf will play qualifying at this year’s tournament which will be held August 10-18 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. McNally is a native of Madeira who turned pro in April. She will be playing W&S Open singles for the first time after previously playing doubles here in 2017. Last month she made her Grand Slam main draw debut at Wimbledon after qualifying. She has enjoyed success at ITF 100k tournaments this season, winning the title at February’s Midland, Mich., event without dropping a set and later reaching the semifinals at Surbiton in June. As a junior, McNally was runner-up in singles at the 2018 French Open. The former Madeira High School standout also enjoyed juniors doubles success with titles at the 2018 US Open and French Open along with a runner-up finish at Wimbledon. She reached a career high of No. 6 in the junior rankings earlier this year. Wolf turned pro in July after three successful seasons at Ohio State University. He capped his Buckeye career with a 35-2 season in which he was the ITA All-American Singles Champion and was named Big Ten Player of the Year. He was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2017 despite only playing the spring season after graduating early from Cincinnati Country Day.
