COMMISSIONER’S CORNER It may seem an odd time of year to be talking about summer activities, when we haven’t seen a 40 degree day in weeks and snow has been with us since before Thanksgiving, but we need to have some feedback from you. We would like to plan some activities that will draw our Communities together. In many ways we can be a tight knit county, during emergency situations we always seem to pull together and help each other asking nothing in return. However, it would be nice to have times to come together for purely social reasons. It might be nice to have a time to just catch up with each other and share our families. One idea we have talked about is a Farmer’s Market that could be held at the County pavil- ion every Saturday afternoon. We could run this from mid July through September. Any residents who have gardens and extra produce could offer it up for sale and we wouldn’t have to stop at just produce within the County. We could invite other vendors who might have an interest. Produce could also be brought from the Wasatch front. Many of us make trips down there to buy produce for ourselves; we could buy extra and offer it at our mar- ket. It could be a great service to our communities and also a wonderful tool to just get to- gether. Another thought has been a movie night in the park. There are vendors that will come set up the large screens and sound systems. We could invite all of our local businesses, which have an interest, to set up concession stands. If the event became popular enough we could purchase our own equipment and do it ourselves. These are just two ideas and there could be many more. These types of events would not only be great for us, but it would also draw interest from the many visitors that frequent our beautiful county every year. It may also make us seem more inviting than we have in the past. We would love to have your input on these ideas and others that you might like to suggest. Please contact one or all of us with your feedback. The Commission is also working on our Resource Management Plan (RMP). It is a state- wide requirement that the Counties have an RMP in place in 2017. This will be a long and specific process that we really need your input on. This is your County and we work for you, the plan needs to reflect your wishes. These meetings will be noticed and public. When we come up with a calendar, it will be published in the newsletter. We hope everyone is staying warm and has a Happy Valentine’s Day!
